Re: Fuel canisters Highlands and Islands

You’ll have no problem getting them, even village shops usually stack a couple of sizes in my experience.

Re: Tarp and Bivi curious

For use when peeing, I have two small pieces of rubber, one for each foot. They have some grip to prevent any slipping in the dark. They are attached to my feet via an upper layer so that a "pocket" is formed which my foot can slip into. If need be, this pocket can be tightened up via a l...

Re: Tarp and Bivi curious

I just use a sheet of tyvek I bought from Stu as a groundsheet, works fine and is pretty non slip. I don’t peg it out but it would be easy to hand stitch a loop at each corner I imagine. Very cheap and effective solution to my mind.

Re: Tarp and Bivi curious

I received one of the Liteway OMM net inners earlier this week, no charges, VAT or otherwise. It took about 6 weeks to arrive though. Used it last night, nice bit of kit, well made and pretty light. I’d have no hesitation in buying from him again. And if I didn’t have a Khufu already would definitel...

Re: Reasons for riding.

These days I am less interested in the riding itself. I was never particularly “enduro” or much more than an average rider, enjoying the flow of woodsie single track rather than technical downhill type riding. Though I still enjoy swooping in the woods, I am far less interested in the riding itself,...

Re: What's the Gravelw@nker equivalent of this?

Those shorts do look like a modern fabric version of lederhosen, which given the current oxymoron that is “modern retro” is perfect:)
That said, I quite like them☺️

Hopefully a chance to pitch in the garden once I get back this afternoon. Liteway mesh inner, bought for using with the Khu...

Re: Which bike lock

I’ve got a couple of hiplocks. You can put them through a wheel/seatstays or, my favourite, clamp a brake leaver shut( makes a good handbrake too if parked on a slope!)
Basically a big zip tie with a bit of a metal core. 2pin key to release.

Re: Numb feet after riding

I recently started using superfeet in all my shoes due to an ongoing knee issue, that was ultimately related to damaged ankles. I mainly went for standard greens but have a set of carbon in my bike shoes, really low volume and what a difference. Expensive, but worth every penny for me. Sometimes you...

Re: What tents do you lot use

Recently came across this guy via a FB group. I contacted him on Thursday re an inner for my shelters. Answered within a few minutes and was really helpful etc. I ordered one shortly after having checked dimensions etc. I’ll let you know how it goes. Nice looking shelter I think. And I feel you abou...

Re: Gears for a Gryphon - suggestions pls

I read that article recently, there’s some pretty expensive solutions to problems that don’t really exist. The Garbaruk cassette/mech arm. $426. The cassette particularly, is a lovely thing and very light. But a Rival shifter/mech will work with a Sunrace 50t cassette with nothing more than a bit of...

Re: Gears for a Gryphon - suggestions pls

I had 105 on my tricross, worked fine tbh. If you get a long cage mech it’s fine up to 32-34, adding a wolf tooth roadlink will get you to 36t easily, possibly/probably a 40t cassette. I had a 36 on mine and there was plenty of spare capacity. I have Middleburns on my current graventure(😊) bike and ...

Re: Iceland or Norway or...

Bear in mind if you go too early some of the rivers may not be crossable. Also, as it is a pretty short season, maybe 8-10 weeks max, everyone that is doing these trails do so pretty much all together. When I rode in to þorsmork I was amazed by the amount of people there. Literally hundreds of folk ...

Re: Iceland or Norway or...

Yeh I would agree on the Iceland trip. It is possible to get a bus from the airport to the start of those trails, and back from the end. If you do have just 4 days þorsmork is a good ending, and the bus runs from here too. If you have a couple more days you could finish at Skogafoss instead. Pretty ...
