The further commercialisation of bikepacking?

Markus Stitz has just launched entry for the Capital Trail in June. There is a small admin fee of £20, which will pay for a breakfast at the start and photography. Pictures are shared with all riders. Once you are accepted, you will be asked to transfer the fee of £20 via Paypal within 7 days of rec...

Re: 650b+ Experiment

I can't recall weighing my B+ Pact but I'd be surprised if it's any lighter than that, even with the carbon forks instead of the Rebas I currently have fitted. I can't say the weight has ever bothered me.

Re: Carbon disc forks

Cheap carbon forks will be overly ridged and have a harsh feeling. May help us know what you're trying to achieve? Really? My cheap carbon Exotics were really, really comfy. You could see them flex (though not as much a the old Pace RC31s :-) ) http://www.carboncycles.cc/?p=197 I am looking for som...

http://www.the-carter-company.com/trip/cycling-holiday/in-scotland/a-highland-fling/ I didn't bite as I was convinced this was a spoof! vastly more expensive 'per mile' then the Rafa Ride, but I suppose that's not the point, and you do get to stay in some hotels with ridiculous names... No spoof :-...

It might help if you gave the model number of your Garmin. On my Oregon I can see routes and tracks that are in both Internal memory and on the SD card.

Re: Where would you put the piss bottle?

Water bottle in frame bag and then attach* an equipment water bottle to the downtube, doesn't matter if you're tool bottle gets muddy I do like the idea of using the space under the down tube for attaching stuff that is not required routinely, perhaps using a suitable bag plus bungees or Velcro - a...

We support (provide bikes and transport) for that holiday. We've been asked to consider doing the Cycling Butler role too.

Other things that might help define the perfect bikepacking bike (All IMHO, obviously) A large frame triangle for fitting a bag. Additional bottle cage (Anything cage) mount(s). The ability to run a front mech. A finish that doesn't wear where straps are rubbing. Should I mention rack mounts or woul...

A day late, but a heap of goodies from the BB Shoppe, including a patch for my tarp and a Gorilla Cage for the under-down tube mounts on my Pact (RIP) I would just like to point out that the 'day late' refers to Colin's post, not my shoddy delivery  Oh yes. Re: The Perfect Bike Packing Bike

Can you expand a bit more on that please Stu. I'll try Ray. 29er - if I fit 29" wheels it's generally with 2.2" fast rolling tyres. Works well on those trips / rides that I know will involve lots of miles and long days on reasonably easy terrain. Still capable of being ridden down most th...
