Re: The kit's got lighter ... but are we still touring?
And yet event bikepacking (TDF/HTR etc) is the complete antithesis of this. I find myself in agreement with Colin here. This is a Bikepacking forum. I'll let you go through the threads and see what proportion are about events. There are times it seems it's every thread Bloody hell that's twice in o...

Re: Waterproof repair stuff
I've used (as suggested on here) Stormsure Tuff Tape on a jacket, transparent and very, very sticky. Still going strong, cheap too.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.
I've pretty much always ridden until I find somewhere to stop that I like. Does that make it camping/comfy bed to (extend the) ride? Like most I don't like being tied to other peoples timetables.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2017.
A bit too much normal life getting in the way so far this year, so I only have 4 out of 6 to my name so far. March I missed even though the weather was pretty decent. For March. April was done on the WRT https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4179/34279831611_c81b884e2b.jpg IMG_1461 by Richard Picton , on F...

Guilty as charged, sorry. Still enjoy it when I can though. It's a sad reflection of the soft world many people live in, even those who proclaim not to

Admitting in public to going bikepacking.....
To friends and especially, colleagues? I work in an fairly ordinary office, fair mix of "normal" people. Most talk in the office is football or golf. Not very interesting to me, when I was asked what I got up to at the weekend (WRT) I just muttered something about having been out for a rid...

Re: Veloviewer map - explorer tiles
Hmm. Without doing anything at all I appear to have regained a square, and gone back up to 5 at 14x14 from 13x13 yesterday. Odd. It's a square where the VV line clips a corner, but the route followed is right on the corner where the grids cross. I'll have a trot across there to make sure I don't los...

Looks like I'm in as well, the likelihood of £10 straight to Scottish MR is high. That's no bad thing.

Re: getting a gpx route onto my garmin........how?
Pickers way of doing it worked straight away at work on a proper computer. :-bd A useful tip as well (apologies if you've seen this already). Open the Garmin folder as previous - look for a text document called "startup". Open this, the last line should read "Type your message on the...

Re: getting a gpx route onto my garmin........how?
Dead easy Tony, Plug it into your PC with a USB lead, and open the folder as an external drive. There should be a folder called Garmin, open this and look for a folder called New Files. Just drag and drop the GPX file here. Disconnect the Garmin and let it restart. The route should appear in the cou...

Re: My little WRT film
Nice film, I enjoyed watching that
They were at every cafe and pub we stopped at!!makes me sad i missed it again this year, first thing that surprised me was the amount of cars parked up, so many people at the start but you only see a handful when actually biking!

Re: Boardman CX Team as a bikepacking bike?
I have a exactly this, and it has been used for bikepacking - I used it for the Chilterns southern bivy where it worked very well indeed. There's no way I'd have used it for the WRT last weekend, although it would have been fine for probably 80% of the route, the other 20% would have been quite diff...

Another ta very muchly from me! A great weekend in so many ways; with the possible exception of the climb out of Rheidol. We had a Barterism competition going up there. - Tarmac, Gravel, Singletrack, Trails, Bog Deathmarch, trail centre (sorry!) and riving crossings - Sun, Wind, Rain, Yep - Bivvy, P...

Looks like similar tape to the one one from Alpkit that Greg suggested (thanks Greg) - the site wouldn't let me order so I guess they don't stock it anymore.
