A nice little 17 mile pootle about the Bridgewater Canal and part of the N55 cycle route...quite muddy in places but the big kid in me loves the mud.......

Made me think. Has anyone got any long distance canal routes worked out? I started trying to figure something out for a family friendly holiday, but didn't get far as I got distracted by canal during midi and then just totally distracted . On my commute home @ 6am along canal nr Dover lock sometimes have face off with a deer on towpath , twice it looked at me with disgust had to shout at it to move.....didnt want to get into fight with it..

Im in , could do with losing 2 stone , spent nearly all 2015 off bike due to surfing accident put 3 1/2 stone on . Its taken ages to lose just over a stone.......must try harder

I do a lot on canal towpaths commuting and training..... not had any problems with people, I slow down and shout "can i squeeze past please " then say "sorry" with a wave and a smile in case i cause an inconvenience especially if they have dogs off lead....or little brats (i mean...

Llangollen to Betws-y-Coed
I'm planning my first big bikepacking weekend for early spring next year..the idea is to ride down the Bridgewater canal from Leigh (home) to Runcorn then down the Trent and Mersey to Middlewich , then across the Shropshire Union to Llangollen canal.....onto Betws-y-Coed then camp at Llynn Gwynant.....

Bit of a noob question but I'm just starting to get into this bikepacking malarkey..using my cx bike and one man tent (not ready to bivvy yet). What do people cook / eat on overnight camps...other than pot noodles..
