Sleeping on it

Hey all, I am due to be getting back out into the woods this November for my first bivvy in over 18 months, suffice to say I am a little excited, but I do need to pick up some new kit as I loaned mine forward to family to help get my nephews addicted as I am. Right now I am pondering sleep systems, ...

Re: Newbie bikepacking tent advice

Hi and welcome, I have been using a Vango Banshee 200, far from the lightest tent out there but it is solid and reliable, good for regular touring and bike packing, I would like something lighter but it is a good starter item.

Re: Modern Hardtails

I have not used suspension of any kind for ages, instead preferring a fully rigid set up, that said I have ridden more progressive geometry bikes with suspension for both trail and bike packing use, they handle both really well, if you look at many of the set ups for events like the Great Divide and...

Made the most of the dodgy weather and swapped the transmission on my Surly to Microshift Advent X and upgrade the brake levers to a set of TRP ones, first time I have been able to spanner in over a year :)

Aeroe Fat Spider?

Hey all, this has been discussed before and I have read a little into them, so I am looking at picking up a Aeroe Fat Spider for my Surly Wednesday, has anyone had any long term experience or feedback with the system? I am looking at using a top bag and two smaller side bags instead of a heavier rac...

Re: OSM maps for an old Garmin?

Re: Bikepacking hall of fame?

A vote for Co-op locals, saved my ass more than once when I crawled into one soaking wet, hungry and tired, really handy in Devon and Cornwall.

Defo a nod to the suggestions, the legends room, possibly add Cass Gilbert to the list?

Re: YHA puts 1/3 of properties up for sale

I actually got to speak to a friend who is staff in one of the Cornish YHA buildings, it seems they are selling them on as a franchise and will stay within the YHA structure, I have stopped in many over the years, sadly now they are pricing themselves out of the market, when it is cheaper to get a B...

Great report, always fancied a beach bivvy, sadly it is a bit too busy on my local stretch of beach (14mile round trips worth) plus over night sleeping is banned :( Might try a winter one at some point.

Re: Thorn mercury mk3 52 L still available

If you are having issues selling then it may be worth contacting Robin at thorn cycles, he does buy back bikes for re-sale again, won't get as much as a private sale but it will move, email the sales team at Thorn with photo's.

Re: Todays ride

After what can be described as a catastrophic last 12 months I am finally back on the bike, the damage done to my brain actually means that cycling is much easier than walking, I have been very worried that I would not be able to ride again, at least now I am able to start the rebuilding process, al...

Re: 2023 - Plans, rides and things to look forward to

Right now, just riding/learning to ride again, I am at ground zero regarding fitness so putting that back together, I am hoping to get out for a bivvy night this spring, anything more than this is a bonus.

Re: What does your Christmas look like?

Going to be a quiet one for me, will be trying to ride my bike for the first time this year, I tried pre surgery but ended up falling off, a few lights at home, to be honest at one point I didn't think I would be here this Christmas so being present is more important than ever for me. Best of luck R...

I am running 650x2.5 on my Bridgeclub, finding the 2.3-2.6 size pretty sweet, gives a nimble feel while still keeping some float.
