bargain !! great bivi / mudfest / winter bike
Genesis Alfine ioid 2009 17.5” Reluctantly young family/lack of riding opportunities means it’s up for a bargain price of £375ono. Equally good as a standard HT or a “bivi bike” I originally bought this because I’m too unfit to ride SS on hilly rides especially carrying bivi kit (I tend to carry loa...

F/S early rider balance bikes
My girls have outgrown their balance bikes and since I’ve just bought them their first “proper” bikes these are now surplus to requirements. Excellent condition with no major marking/scratches apart from very minor general wear & tear. Couple of Charlie Bikemonger stickers on them for extra nich...

F/S unfinished SS project – kona kaboom (medium)
having a bit of a clear out… kona kaboom frame, semi built with an assortment of acquired parts (I think the only things missing are brakes, chain, stem and headset) with a little bit of rummaging round a spares box this would make a decent shonky SS £75 ono http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k110/ma...

Salsa Anything bottle cage
i've just bought a Salsa Anything bottle cage for carrying a dry bag on my bike not having Salsa forks i don't have mounts on my forks, i can put it on my frame but obvioulsy that will reduce the ability to carry a water bottle. do you reckon i could attach it to my forks (possibly zip ties) or woul...

Re: Lightweight spare 'shoes'
in my local gym they have those small bright blue plastic bag type overshoes that allow you to wear your shoes by the pool side i use them when i bivi as my "spare shoes", keep your feet dry if you need to pop out for a "comfort break" in the night but can't be bothered putting s...

WRT - just out of interest
our meticulously planned route was cut short by the weather as early as Sunday morning, ha !
we didn't even make double figures, just out of interest did anyone get close to all 26 GR's ?

Re: WRT 2012 - Thanks
echo everyone's comments above still new to bikepacking and couldn't believe what a great event it was, unfortunately we were beaten by the weather on Sunday night with wet kit and the worry of early stages of hypothermia for one of our team we reluctantly we checked into a pub for the night (yes I ...

WRT - lost silver Canon Ixus camera
We lost our camera on Monday, we're pretty sure that we took a few photos with it at the finish/tea & cakes ceremony unless it fell out when we were loading the stuff back at the start. it's a silver Canon Ixus camera in a black protective case i don't supose anyone picked it up did they? cheers

Re: WRT: anyone else nervous?
haven't got a clue how much mine weighs... all i know is that (hopefully) it'll roll downhill and i'll have to lug it uphill so i guess i'll enjoy at least 50% of the trip at the moment i'm not so much nervous but bloody excited, there are 3 of us in our team and we're taking bets on who will be the...

Re: Let's see your WRT set up
ok, i'm still fairly new to all this so no laughing... couldn't decide exactly what to take, clothing was the main issue as i've only done overnight bivi's before, probably overkill but i'd rather have extra stuff as oppose to not enough. the camelbak looks bulky but thats only because my "even...

attaching stuff to forks
i've seen a few photos now of people having bags & stuff attached to their forks
how is this done, is there a special adaptor or just strapped tightly with velcro or similar ?
anyone do it, seems like a good way to carry lighter items such as sleeping bag/tarp etc.

I'm going for the option of a nice comfy sleep at home and then a 2 hour drive Saturday morning.

overnight jacket
I’ve done a few bivi’s now and I’m quite happy with my kit with the exception of my coat. when I stop to bivi I normally prefer to take off my riding jacket and put on a dry/warm top. As I’ve not got anything specific this normally means a fleece and a cycling softshell (often in the night I still p...
