Re: Is there such a thing?
I could make such a thing using a £6 Raspberry pi and a few bits. I reckon total cost £20 - £30 and I would use it having lost a days shooting in the Forest of Bowland. Might have a tinker...

Re: Really hated this winter... (Spanish trail suggestions!)
This is just my point of view...but weather never ruins a ride for me as I'm outside. My summer excursions onto the Ridgeway would not be the same if I didn't do the same thing type 2 fashion in winter. I really find it hard to understand not riding because of crap weather because it is always so ac...

Re: The Racing Collective.
Not really understanding the negativity. I am surprised no one has set at 1000 mile road LEJOG ITT yet. Gethin Butler has two days, seven hours, 53 minutes and seven seconds It's that unsupported Dave? If so that's a bit mental Good point, no. But his Lands End record is probably the most amazing c...

Re: I've been dreading this
I would just like to say that, I'm a little disappointed with this thread. Having seen 'I've been dreading this' posted by Mr Barter ... I was kind of hoping it would be about Dave's vist to the tattooist to get the Bah Bah Bikepack route added to the two big W's that already adorn his arse cheeks....

I hate the fact that when in many of the US National Parks I can't go for a walk or camp without applying 1000000 years previously for a permit.
It appears to be on its way over here.

Re: One Year Time Trial
One of you might know, given the experience with the subject in here... ...has anyone ever properly studied one of the riders doing this sort of event? Things like heart rates, heart rate variability, weight, body composition, lactate buildup, muscle breakdown, bloodwork, cortisol levels etc. Would...

Re: One Year Time Trial
I didn't think you were scud. Steve was criticised a lot for his last attempt (even though he actually gained the UMCA record for his age) some of it rightly so. I was part of the team telling him that is was time to stop and rethink his approach. It was desperately hard given how much time and effo...

Re: One Year Time Trial
Been following this over the last few years, and whilst i really admire Steve coming back for a second crack after being hit the first time by the fool on the moped, his approach of slow, long days doesn't seem to allow him the recovery time that Amanda Coker or the US guy, Kurt (surname slips my o...

Re: One Year Time Trial
Yes, I am involved in the attempt. Steve's been under a trainer in 2016 and has taken on board a lot of the failings of the last attempt and experience gained during his month record. You may not know this but Steve currently has a mountain to climb as Amanda Coker is averaging 230+ MILES PER DAY. w...

Re: Highland Trail 550 - the book
My copy has arrived, well done Ian and all on a lovely bit of production. The only downside is that 2 of my pledges somehow got in. I thought I had changed one of them but it now looks like I'm committed to completing the loop. I had to pay extra to make sure that one was kept in for you. Yo...

Re: Baa Baa Bikepack - 5360km in the UK.
The inclusion of 100 miles of hilly chalk track is good to see, in theory. No way of riding that in damp conditions on a 25c road bike. Putting the Assietta in the TCR4 was a good call. It wasn't long enough to be decisive but this is closer to being influential. Much lolling at this James! Remembe...

Re: Baa Baa Bikepack - 5360km in the UK.
Are you sure it goes on bridleways? I cannot see for definite on my phone. I don't have hate for this event, it seems a convergence of Audax with racing to me rather than a divergence of bikepacking. I think the bikepacking tag is the unfortunate bit. I know a few of those signed up and it is right ...
