Re: OT: Large travel bag recommendation
A chap I know has one of these. He uses it fairly regularly and is happy https://www.24mx.co.uk/product/24mx-all-in-one-big-wheely-gear-bag_pid-NR1WBAG Otherwise, as said above, I have a dakine split roller which I have had for over 10 years and its still solid. Its a little more awkward to get ski ...

Re: All day comfortable, do-it-all waterproof trousers?
I recently (when they were half price) bought a pair of Altura ridge thermal waterproof trousers. https://www.altura.co.uk/products/altura-ridge-thermal-mens-waterproof-trouser The outer is a fully taped waterproof fabric which is not crispy / crunchy but a bit softer. I would say somewhere between ...

Count me in too. Back up to 103kg and change. This can be my first Friday, will revert to actual Fridays next week  Have / Had some valid reasons for not making progress previously, but also know exactly how to do it. Just need to commit to it really. Target is 95 for the summer, lets say by t...

Looks great flv... I prefer the shot without the bike, but not sure why! Is that BMX track Bruntwood? Brings back memories of my childhood, grew up about 10 minutes ride from there and went to 6th form at the college which backs onto it, so used to ride some laps on lunch break Thanks :-) Yup, Brun...

Re: How much grief can I expect?
When I had one, everyone had a story about how it was going to let me down. EGR valve was going to break, dual mass flywheel was going to break etc etc. I ran mine from 40k to 90k with no issues though. I think in reality, they probably don't break much more than other vans, but there are loads of t...

Amazingly a weekend of bikes without rain... First, BMX. My boy at the club with his mates in the mist during a coaching session https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53450431646_094860e9af_z.jpg Snuck out for ride around the res's later on https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53450747179_197095eb51_z....

Re: Singlespeed a microspline?
I have a SS microspline cog if you still need one. I got it as a tester from Kayla on stw forum, not sure if that's the same person as bikepunx. Ended up not using the hub for SS so the cog is yours for the price of postage if you want. Thanks for the kind offer, I have ordered a freehub now so wil...

Interesting ponderings, thanks for taking the time.
As a few mention, I generally have also come to the conclusion that having the choice is really nice.

Anyone ride exclusively singlespeed?
No real goal of finding any particular answer, a bit like my question about 29+ Does anyone here ride exclusively singlespeed? I ride one, but also ride geared bikes. I prefer my SS for most of my MTB riding, I don't mind using it for backpacking too. Sometimes. Not that I've done much for a while. ...

Re: Singlespeed a microspline?
Thanks again.
I've found a little more around the hubs, looks like I can get an Ibis freehub direct for £75 (presumably I will get hit for tax in the uk from usa) or from slam 69 for £85
I had kind of hoped for something a little less pricy!

Re: Singlespeed a microspline?
Can you get a different freehub with SS compatible splines? Just kidding Steve 😄 (I mentioned it above) I probably can, but so far it's a ball ache and the shop I suspect may be best in the know (where I got the bike that came with the wheels on) say they 'think it may be the right one' and ...

Singlespeed a microspline?
Hi. I have some wheels with nice wide rims I'd like to use singlespeed. Issue is that the freehub is microspline. Does anyone know of solutions to fit a single cog to microspline? The hubs are branded ibis bikes so deciphering what HG freehub body would fit, then finding one is equally irritating. I...

What was the problem with 29+
Just a topic of mild curiosity really. I wonder why 29+ has faded out... I used to own one, it was good fun to ride but I did find that the main limitation was getting the tyre pressure just right for off road mean it wasn't quite as good on road. I am still a little surprised that there doesnt seem...

Re: Peak district bothy question
Presume you refer to the one up oyster clough. (Without checking the grid ref) You could fit 3 or 4 in lay near each other. Its pretty small and there are no sleeping platforms at all so its direct on the stone floor. Which is why id not sleep in it. There is a table in there, the odd chair and a co...
