No, perfectly safe but you'll have to carry the weight of it around (plus fuel)

Re: Bike security
All good ideas, but I'm not sure I could run somewhere down if it was the only place to eat! Will more research on the lightest cable lock option. The LOCK aspect is key, visual deterrent rather than actual. Stops someone coming out the pub slightly inebriated and seeing a good option for getting ho...

Re: Bike security

Find the cable quite short, will probably get something similar but with a longer cable When do you take them and when do you use it? I wonder if I'm being a townie and worry about security where in places one...

Bike security
What do you guys use to secure your bike when you're bikepacking (and thinking about weight load)
I'm thinking about situations like stopping at pubs and shops, as well bothys and other stops. Bivvys to a certain extent I guess

Re: Any decent online reading about?
I was reading a really good pdf document last night written by Will Rietveld on condensation in single wall shelters.
Tried to find a link but my googlefu is weak, am on work laptop and was reading it on my home ipad.
Can't remember where I got the link

Re: Your 'goals' for the coming year.
My biggest problem is time - job, travel for work and very young family mean weekends away aren't as abundant as they used to be Two main goals for me: - Ride to work once a week throughout the year (at least and on average) - 16 miles each way, have managed it since summer and would like to continu...

I'll take the seat pack if it's not damaged (don't mind wiping some dirt off) and is black

Re: Montane Featherlite Down Jacket
One quick heads up, fill power can be measured in US or UK/EU
800 US is 700 UK, and so on
My warmest down jacket is a PHD minimum but it's over budget. The alpkit ones are very well regarded but not as good value as they once were, especially if you can grab a down jacket in the sale
