Re: Bar harnesses - recommendation
What do you recommend for a bar extender please? You may not need a bar extender, if your Exposure has the wedge shaped bar mount, unscrew the bolt on the light and get a longer bolt, countersunk head of course, measure the distance to the screw head from the light and cut a piece of tubing accordi...

Ah , Cuckoo trail.
Sounds like a similar route to me - over to Southwater, then along the Downslink to the South Downs. Need to do a few bivvy trips that way, this year

Re: Practicing being rufty tufty!
Practiced being ruffty tufty out in Storm Eunice yesterday! Left home after the peak windspeeds had passed and rode/clambered over trees for five hours to get to the South Downs. It was wild on the tops so we bivied inside a hawthorn thicket like sheep. It worked perfectly. Up at 6am to savour a su...

I wouldn't use that as the 3rd strap goes around the headtube. That'll just cause wear to the paint/metal and abrade the strap. Look for something that straps to the fork crown instead. I concur - especially if there is no space between your top tube and your downtube, where they meet the headtube.

Re: Guilt issues over not riding.
Ton, I would love to retire - but can't afford it, right now - just so I can choose whether I ride (or do other activities) or just do nothing in particular, rather than having pretty much every minute of my life either planned out for me, inconvenienced or interrupted. (May just be a mid-life crisi...

Tent pegs and hard ground
Just a quick query, to see how you folks deal with this. If I'm car camping, with the big tent, then I just take the big tent pegs and a rubber mallet. When bikepacking and backpacking, however, weight and space suggest that lighter pegs , and no hammer are the order of the day. Suggestions welcome.

Another Wildcat Lion user, here, and can't speak of them highly enough. Rock solid, light, easy to access your dry bag. Used in conjunction with a tiger seatpack and a home made Frame bag, to make a very useable and secure setup. Also have the lioness add-on pack, too. Haven't had chance to use that...

Lighter weight, mesh fabric. Nae pockets. Full length zip. Can be washed at 60c to help kill bacteria. But mostly it has the slogan "Going Nowhere Fast" emblazoned across it in large letters. Ah, https://images2.fanpop.com/image/photos/12300000/Rab-C-Nesbitt-Promos-rab-c-nesbitt-12361965-...

Re: Bung for a carbon steerer
I recently bought this ( it's my LBS anyway) and was impressed. It has a lip so it does not drop into steerer ( like hope ones do -though mine are decades old ) Fitted and works fine https://www.merlincycles.com/bbb-bap-03-powerhead-11-8-headset-compressor-62723.html I have something very similar, ...

Re: Dogpacking
Just been planning my first dogpacking trip, too. Walk to local train station, shortish journey to Christ's Hospital, hiking up the Downslink (old railway line) to a campsite, visit pub, crash at campsite, reverse trip home. Also thinking that a 2 man tent would be better that a tarp, to stop doggy ...

Some tent pegs from Joe at Wierdos on Bikes - thanks Joe! Planning a hike/camp with my dog, when the weather picks up (I'm a wuss) and the weight saving over the massive nails that I use with the big tent (car camping) will be appreciated. Now, I just need to resist the urge to buy a lighter 2 man (...

It seems to work for him, so that's fine by me.
There's a nice feedback loop to the way he does things - even growing replacement sheep, for when his current "engine" passes away.
