Re: The price of tools.

... look at the Hultafors small trekking axe, I have the slightly Longer version and it's a lovely piece of kit, sharpens well and holds an edge for ages, They have enough bant to split logs etc....a cracking piece of Swedish steel. I use mine a Few times a week in conjunction with a Husqvarna chai...

Re: The price of tools.

Another vote for hultafors axe from me. Reasonably priced and come in a variety of sizes. I'm a fan of the Bacho Laplander folding saw even for wet wood Ray. As an alternative you could Take a froe for splitting instead of an axe. Possibly lighter. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=froe&t=iphone&iax...

Some things sold. Something's removed from original post and some prices applied to what's left. Happy to receive offers on what's left.

Not at all Shawn. I have a surly Wednesday now. :-bd
These are some extra parts I don't need.

I am a fat bike convert these days. The Wednesday has 27.5 wheelset on it with 3.8 Minnion tires. Feels pretty invincible.

Re: O/T Trials bike curious.

My next bike will have a chunky bash guard on ISCG tabs and ssp but a long front centre and flat head angle, so definately more trail biking than trial biking. Yet, if I get the hang to do more hopping around on that bike, it'll transfer easy into my other trail bikes. Perhaps that's worth consider...

Re: O/T Trials bike curious.

Akrigg is incredible. That would take some doing on my part. Used to ride my bmx around edinburgh many years ago. The mucking about on the 456 has reaped some benefits already when out on the trails. Also, I've been having fun on a bike. Wheelies are getting easier again and even managed some decent...

O/T Trials bike curious.

A good few years back I was bikepacking curious and ended up with a Stooge and a Vagabond. A couple of years ago I was fat bike curious and now I'm on my second fatbike frame. Surly Wednesday. But time for long rides isn't always easy and I've found myself somewhat Trials bike curious. I built up an...

An Alpkit woodsmoke shirt. My wife suggested that wearing a shirt like that cycling is the kind of thing my dad would do and she was a bit worried. I've taken to wearing shirts recently when cycling. Maybe a sign of age but I find them practical. I've been looking for an affordable merino one. This...

Re: Anyone happen to have a 45-50mm internal 29er plus front

I've got a Hugo on hope hub that has end caps for quick release I was in two minds about parting with. Considering selling a stooge frameset. If I sell the frame I would sell the wheel. I'm not 100% decided yet. Sorry if that's a bit vague

If you decide to go for 24" wheeled bike and second hand, we have a frog 62 in orange in our household. My daughter is moving onto a small adult frame that I will build up for her.

Im taking a long term view of changing habits that are bad for ones that are better. Good to read about how others are managing this.
