Re: Tubeless question

Thanks for this. Weird to hear about your experiences of the Cinturato M as they're marketed as a multi-surface fit-and-forget tyre! That's more a reflection on my poor show bike handling skillz than the tyre... 😏 I really rate them, especially as when matched with the Orange Seal Endurance, ...

Re: Tubeless question

Hello all. I am considering changing.over to tubeless and had a query regarding my rims which are WTB ST I23 TCS tubeless ready. Does anyone know if these have tubeless valves fitted, or do I have to buy them separately? As far as I know they are already taped. Can anyone recommend suitable valves ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

Here's one for the BaM lawyers... Was pondering last night, as I'm about to go on call on Wednesday and am feeling a bit rubbish; it'll be last chance saloon when I get off. Can I ride my bike on the rollers, pitch the tent outside my garden, on someone else's land (paddocks), then ride my bike on t...

Re: What are you reading now?

Interested to hear what you make of the coffee books. I've flicked through The World Atlas of Coffee in a couple of (clearly the better sort of  ) coffee shops, and it was interesting, but perhaps not enough for me to go and seek out a copy. I like the sound of the other two though. I'm glad ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

Hopefully some were out last night. Down here at least the forecast from now until the end of the month is rain, he says smugly having managed to get out last week when the rain was only in the middle of the night  I thought about last night, but it was absolutely hammering it down, all night...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.

Went on a road trip with daughter yesterday to get her a new pair of ice skates. Thankfully the £480 ones (😲!!!), that didn't even come with blades (another £150 - 180) were too uncomfortable. Got my skates sharpened, so we're off to the rink a mo' to try them out. Evens that we're both on our arses...

That reminds me, I need to cancel my half filled out entry. Damaged my wrist the other week at the ice rink, don't think pounding it off road for a few days anytime soon, is a good idea... 😖

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

For a change, I know exactly where that is, having cycled passed it on a few occasions now. It's always looked a bit too busy to pitch up at, but just where you hang a right to head back to the visitor centre, and tap, I've thought about going straight on, and kipping there, on the edge. Yo...

Not long back from the ice rink, where I had an accidental "sit down". My left wrist is now encased in tubigrip and I'll be taking all the drugs before going to bed. Was planning on a longish MTB ride tomorrow, not sure I'll be able to hold the bars with the left hand. 😞 Time to go and buy...

Just thought it might be of interest to those of us who ride partially to help control the amount of food going in.

Rollers

Finally got round to having a go on the rollers I picked up from slarge at the BB200. Utterly terrifying, mainly as the band powering the front wheel was slipping. https://media.bobarnott.com/gravel/2024-01-31-rollers.jpeg I noticed that a bolt had fallen off, so I tightened it up. Sleeping Socks

I've been having cold feet issues while sleeping on the last few BAMs. Rather than going out and splunking £49 , £79 , £120 , or even £149 on some down booties, I thought I might try some thicker socks first. Anyone used any of these socks that appear to come with a TOG rating...? Such as, but proba...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

My feet were really cold, so I put on my big winter Sealskins over the big socks I was already wearing, this didn't really improve matters. I've been trying to think what my favourite bit of kit for camping is for the other thread and you've helped me choose. I'd say it's my down sleeping socks/boo...
