Re: Gravel Bike Components

Nice frame the Open U.P. Do you mean the Easton EC70 AX gravel drop bars? I have that one and am very happy with them but it's not a fair comparison with my commuter all steel bike. Using a Rotor crankset mixed up with the the cx spider in 165mm. Velotech did it for me as the cx crankset doesn't com...

Re: Waterproof short recomendations

I'm tired of destroying few very good Gore Alp-x 3.0, quite light and good fit. The grit and mud on the saddle easily destroys fabric. Now just bought these army waterproof trousers and going to cut around the knees. I hope they'll survive winter. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/British-Military-Army-MTP-...

Re: This Is Not A Tour - new Audax events in memory of Mike

I'd like to do this but it's seriously close to next year's HT550 (Saturday, May 26th, 2018) which is also on my radar. We are getting spoilt for choice :-bd Ditto! I believe I can 2 both. Problem will be more about logistics Why don't bearbones make one? Paper one, for the wall. Has been spoken ab...

Interesting event, 400 for me ideally but 2018 agenda is getting seriously busy. Need to get 2018 calendar.

Re: Commuting road tyre options

I also have in the fast bike the G Ones 35mm tubeless Ian is using and I rate them quite fast for the size. But they are rubbish in mud, for obvious reasons. The commuter has the G One speed 30mm (former S Ones I think) also tubeless and they are much faster and can easily cope with gravel terrain, ...

Much longer than 8-20 hours time limit Richard asked. I'd say it belongs to ITT non stop through the night type rather than a long day in the saddle mtb marathon.

Heard very good opinions of La Forestiere in France. 100km and winner last year in 5 hours. As a reference, 5h30min for Ben Thomas. Expect 7 hours to finish
https://www.la-forestiere.com/page-vttxcm-en.php now in September.
Have the time off to go but I'm visiting my family

Salzkammergutt in July in Austria. 200+ km and 7000 metres climbing. Limit 16 hours. MB race, 140km long one, Clombloux/Megeve, France in July. More than 12 hours guaranteed, same climb as Salzkammergutt Sellaronda Hero, June, Dolomites. Less technical, best views. Just 84 km and nearly 5000 metres ...

Re: Maxxis tyres - which ones?

All year around with Maxxis Ikon triple compound and protection. 2.35 front and rear for rocky riding, 2,2 rear for weight saving on easier terrain. Not very light, there are faster tyres but I don't bother much changibg them. 2 HTR's and no punctures. I made sure tyres quite new. Don't like them at...
