Re: MYOG - Climashield quilt - 100gsm
The section itself is 860mm long. Do i place It close to the foot box, with a buckle at the taper transition? This seems the most sensible.. But what do i know!? This is where I put mine, same length zip, it works well as the foot box is less draughty. I left about an inch on top of seam allowance ...

Re: Quilt Fabric
I made mine from the 55gsm you’ve got there (in rather fetching purple and orange...).
My choice was driven by cost because just I wanted to try a quilt. I’m sure there will be a difference in packability from using a lighter weight fabric but I reckon most of the bulk is driven by the insulation.

2p’s worth from bits local to me: Aside from two climbs (Old Winchester Hill and Salt Hill) going east on the SDW to QECP is mostly gravel so should ride fine. Those two climbs can get a bit greasy but should be ok I’d have thought even after the rain today and tomorrow. Can’t comment on Salisbury t...

Re: Bikepacking mistakes you’ve made
Packing a can of beer next to a rivet in my seat pack, at least I know my seat pack is still waterproof because I only knew about the can integrity issue when I unrolled the bag to a small stream of beer leaking out.
At least I had another can which was better packed!

Quick trip to the hardware store and we’re ready. Starting to think my sense of wonder might not be so apparent if my eyebrows have been taken back a bit! 22g aren't quite as lively as 8g due to the increased volume. I'm sure it'll be lovely  And it is lovely - thanks Stu! Looking forward to ...

Re: The post man's been ...
garden testing... Sensible ploy. When I got mine ages ago I thought it would be nice to test it on the stainless steel sink draining board in our utility room. I was slightly taken aback by how, er, playful it was when it bloomed! When it does bloom, if you don't laugh out loud at how amazing it is...

Re: On One Bootzipper
Thanks all for the replies.
It looks like it ticks a lot of boxes for my needs, it will definitely not be getting drop bars! (I should have said, I’m looking at the 29er version)
And thanks JC for the tip about seatpost, hope that walk wasn’t too long!

On One Bootzipper
Anyone come across one of these in the flesh? How do they handle the rougher stuff?
I’m considering the standard build, upgrading the wheels and tyres when funds allow.
Usage will be long days/weekend trips so will try set it up to be comfy.

Re: Bivi bag seams
Thank you both for the replies, I felled my first seam yesterday while repairing a pair of shorts that had a few, how shall I say - stressed - seams... Not sure I'd want to repeat the process on a whole bivvy bag! Sounds like a normal seam will cut it and then sealed somehow. Dots of sealant on the ...

Bivi bag seams
First post so, err, hello! Whilst I await my order from extremtextil, I’ve been thinking about seams for my bivi bag. I’m going for a groundsheet style base with a breathable top and simple drawstring around the head/face. From google I’ve learnt that a felled type seam might be best for strength an...
