Re: Tarmacs Route Planner?
Komoot loves to stick you on footpaths too - it doesn’t seem to distinguish that well between the different rights of way.

Re: Todays ride
A slow steady 3 hour shake down ride to test my new shoes mostly on bridleways and canals including a fun swooping section of the local trails. It was the first ride of any length since December so it was very apparent that my climbing legs, which were never the best, have completely gone. Something...

Re: Today's Run
21.2km for the week, getting back into the swing of things. As the distance goes up there’s more potential for off-road jaunts so looking forward to that.

Re: Crashing....
My best crash was being taken out by a deer in California on the way to work 20 years ago or so. I was pootling along the road enjoying the sunshine, just entering the outskirts of one of the little towns on my route when I heard the skitter skitter of hooves on pavement and a large antlered deer sh...

Re: Today's Run
I had to do back to back runs this week since the weekend will be hectic which went surprisingly ok. I managed 18.4km for the week which was more than I’d intended but I got carried away in the sun yesterday. Target is 20-21km next week.

Re: Today's Run
Finally managed to get out 3 times last week for 15.4 very flat km. No major twinges or aches so the plan is to start gradually increasing the distance - the aim for this week is 16-18km.

Re: Today's Run
Only managed a whopping 7.8km last week due to not being able to get out at the weekend so going to try Monday-Wednesday-Friday this week. The good news is that after todays 5k my legs don’t feel like they’ve been pummelled by a bag full of apples unlike every other run in the last 3 weeks

Re: Proposed Wind Farm near Glaslyn
220m seems colossal - the carno ones are about 80m to put that into perspective. Wouldn’t it make more sense to update the older Carno turbines with more modern designs? A quick wiki check says the first 56 were 600kw and the second set of 12 were 1300kw in the same footprint so you get at an extra ...

Re: Today's Run
Went out for the first run since Halloween at lunchtime - only 5k on pavement at a sedate pace but it felt good to be out even if it was drizzling. My plan was to just get used to running multiple times a week for a couple of weeks and then start building up the distance again

After 10 months of tests, scans and biopsies looks like everything is more benign than was feared which is pretty damn cheery even if it isn't a Friday. Now I just need to get some fitness back.

Train for a marathon and you’ll get a lot of half marathons for free during training

An ortlieb quick rack might work for you - you’d just need a set of adapters for each bike and then switching over is painless according to all the reviews

My Ti Goat Kestrel is very light but not waterproof on top, little more than a windproof layer. As I've discovered the fun way, it's dependent on a tarp in all but the driest weather.

There’s some Scandinavian spruce trees that are nearly 10000 years old - I think they’re all a bit trigger’s broom though since just like yew trees they produce a new trunk when one dies off

A tent is easy - it's heavier and less flexible but fairly idiot proof. I've tried using a flat tarp on a couple of trips and got wet both times due to pitching mistakes - I don't doubt if you use one often enough it'll become second nature but I'm only get out once or twice a year at the moment so ...

A pair of trail cross xt cycling shoes so i don’t have to use my clip less pedal shoes even when I’m using flat pedals. At least it’ll distract me from the joys of dealing with a burst pipe in the kitchen overnight.

Since you've got the budget, may be worth looking at the Fairlight Holt. Boutique prices but a very nice looking bike.
