Re: Yet another 2023 TdF trip
I think old TdF routes are great for a route as in the earlier editions, the end of one stage was the start of the next day's. It'd be a tough challenge matching their mileage every day though. Some days the winner would have been riding for ~19 hours  If I go back and do another, I like the ...

Yet another 2023 TdF trip
https://i.imgur.com/xxGKl9W.jpg Those who know anything about my cycling in recent years will know that I usually do most of my riding with my son. Tom is now 18 and informed me earlier this year that his summer cycling plan was to do a 4000 km route called the 100 Cols and that he was going to do ...

A useless bit of info. The guy who built the shelter on Cross Fell Laurie Lambeth was also the first person to "everest" Great Dun Fell on a bike.

Thanks for the write-up James. You've reminded me that once upon a time I did a winter ascent of the N face of the Ailefroide, and that I should do a write up of my summer French trip. It truly is a marvelous place for bike touring.

2.4" would be a good compromise if you are rigid.

You will suffer on the last descent. My tool of choice would be a full susser, or at least something with big tyres.

Re: HT550 - 2024
I applied and didn’t get the nod. Rather gutted as it’s been on my to do list for a few years. I hadn’t really considered how popular it’s become. 160 male entrants for 35 places. Assuming that 10 or so places will go those with proven race pedigree, the odds aren’t great for a first timer getting ...

Powerbank low current - Keep awake widget.
I've got some Klite Qube lights that draw such a tiny amount of juice (~20ma) which means a normal powerbank will turn itself off. I found this device which when plugged between the battery and lights keeps the battery awake, and therefore the lights lit. https://lectronz.com/products/power-bank-kee...
