I first saw that on my phone, and thought that you had done well to get to The Great Ledge on North Wall with a bike...
Rather relieved to see that you were in the quarry !

Re: Klickfix handlebar harness
I had thought of doing something similar but fixing the plate directly to the stuff sac, with a suitable stiffener inside or perhaps the tarp poles would prevent the stuff sac from sagging.

Derailleur hanger straightener tool please - Ribchester / Preston area
Asking for a friend....who had a major rear mech into backwheel incident when we were in mid Wales last weekend. Got it reasonably straight by eye using a pair of borrowed stilsons and my rear wheel threaded in as a guide. Wondered if anyone in the area has the Park tool to borrow, or can recommend ...

Re: Train advice, king Alfred way
Just a word of caution on GWR trains from my regular experience is that not all routes run the older stock with a separate van for bikes - and the train managers are very hot on allowing bikes on the new Hitachi trains that don't have a separate van. I think it is best to book when you can, and hope...

Whilst someone here may have done the EV1 route, you might also try the Cycling UK Forum. I think it has a specific area for European tours.

Looks good...You might be interested in including some parts of the Black Mountain Classic below. http://traildata.co.uk/trail/black-mountains-classic/ I took the lower bridleway at the Hermitage, that brings you to a good bivvy spot where the bridleway crosses the river just beyond. Pretty much all...

Wye Valley Greenway now open !
This is very good news - although within range of Bristol I don't cycle much in the Wye Valley / Forest of Dean due to fast traffic on the A48/A468 and B4228. Looking forward to when we are allowed into Wales again to ride this, and perhaps it would make an alternative start/finish to Stuart's Offa'...

Re: Garmin route planning tools/techniques?
Maybe a bit different - but if I need to get between 2 places on the bike using roads I use https://cycle.travel/ It uses a different method than Google to determine the best route for cycling, and you can drag the points if need be. Then download the .gpx file in cycle.travel and transfer to Garmin

2 x Continental Mountain King 29 x 2.4 - very light wear
As shown in photos -a bit of sealant residue inside Just a few miles before swapping them out for something a bit narrower: Note these are wired tyres but I ran them successfully tubeless on WTB Duster rims. I had no punctures (or leaks) 20 GBP for the pair posted 2nd Class https://i.postimg.cc/DfrV...

Nothing fancy, just want to have a spare set of wheels ready to go without swapping the front disc over each time.

The brackets were flimsy and held on with poor aluminium rivets, think I drilled through the rivet and pulled off the bracket with pliers

Re: Bearbones Bookclub - On the Red Hill
There didn't seem to be much interest in the book from my first post way back - but I recently stumbled on this short film which includes some familiar landscapes of Mid Wales.

I would also recommend Mike Parker's first book Map Addict.

SOLD : Alpkit Love Mud "Bomber" Handlebars £ 12.50 plus postage
Black - In As New condition, these are now marketed as Sonder (but out of stock)
Postage will be about a fiver as I think they are wider than the Post Office limit of 45 cm - or else collect at a distance in Bristol

Budget Mini Front Rack Hack - New photo
27 Jan Update Added another photo with the bike out of the shed that may make things clearer : I have been using handlebar harnesses with drops for a while, but thought I would give the £10 E bay mini rack, or something very similar a go to free up a bit of space on the bars, and make packing a bit ...

Re: Tarp Fabric
I have bought a couple of different types of parachute rip stop from E bay that I used for the lining of my MYOG quilt. The materials do have different characteristics - one is "soft" , the other a bit more "crinkly" and my gut feeling, not founded on any science, was that the cr...
