Re: bum bags

there was a thread on bum bags recently, done a search, can't find it. Grrr looking at the use of a bum bag for delicates (phone, camera, satellite tracker etc) and valuables (wallet, passport, tickets, keys etc) if someone can find the original thread it would be appreciated. that aside, any views...

Re: Gloves

I vary the gloves I'm wearing according to the forecast/conditions but still end up with cold hands sometimes. My normal winter gloves are these http://www.ride100percent.com/news/the-brisker-2015-bike-radar-mbuk-product-of-the-year/ They wont keep my hands dry but they are warm down to about 5 deg...

Re: Yorkshire Dales 200 route?

Is this a different Stuart that organises this event. I'm seriously considering it... any more info or write up from last years event?? Does this Stuart include lots of hike/bike and bogs  (for reference I dont mind hike/bike but bogs give me a chill of fear inside!!) Yeah it's a different St...

Re: Yorkshire Dales 200 route?

YD300 is up first, details here http://riderscyclecentre.com/yorkshiredales300/

Last year I rang Stuart about the route to find out which OS maps I'd need and he pointed me towards the provisional (and as it turned out, final) route on gpsites. It'd be Worth giving him a bell :-bd

Seriously though, this is a single egg frying pan with a 650ml pot inside. You could hack the original handle off and use with a trangia type handle as shown.
Never actually tried this, it just occurred to me as an option.

I’m not against the alpkit one, in fact I like to bright colours rather than everything being dull green. I was just wondering what alternatives there are before I end up looking like an alpkit model This guy does custom jobbies, and has a ultralight one on sale at the min: https://www.etsy.com/uk/...

I can confirm I am not Marcel Kittel, I am the British version - Mark Kittle. Sorry to disappoint. I’ll keep the 3x3 as I use it for Canoe expeds where the weight is less of an issue and the extra space is nice to have. Are there any alternatives of the same sort of size and weight? the DD superlig...

Yep, gravel kings are a good choice. The Vittoria Adventure Trail II are cheap at planet x (have been cheaper, such is their pricing regime) and go up tubeless with no trouble. Thanks for this, been pondering a similar tyre myself, the vittorias are cheaper at decathlon right now: https://www.decat...

Re: Garmin Etrex mounts

I find the etrex one ok if I mount it on the stem or the top tube so the mass centres not trying to rotate it on the long axis. If I mount it on h accessory bar I find it drops down at the nose so you can't see it over rough ground Not an alternative mount but a handy way of getting the unit off th...

I'm clearly just boring and getting too much sleep these days. Surprised a red brick uni like Durham is doing 'Ghostbusters' research. Who's funding that? From a very brief scan looks like it's a psychology study, with the aim of helping voice hearers and providing insight into speech perception in...

Re: Moors One Hundred

a blatant rip-off of the YD200 Seems a little harsh. It's the YD300 this year, and the two distances in the same time will appeal to very different riders. It's also in a different place (yeah, Yorkshire's massive). And it's free, so it's a bit difficult to see how anyone's being ripped off. Okay. ...
