Re: Hope free hubs
Interesting that it's a Pro 4 that you're having trouble with. Wasn't it a 4 that caused Greg issues on the TD? Mine are Pro 2's (non-evo) and despite the state of the insides in the above picture it still functioned ok. It has done 5000 miles on the current bike and was second hand of eBay when I b...

Re: Road link, goat link or other idea for 11-42t
I did look into a goat link for the wife's hybrid bike but it wasn't compatible with her mech. I had thought that it was an add on to move the mech down but I think it actually replaces the direct mount link on the mech so only compatible with mechs which already have the correct link. In the end I ...

Re: The Ridgeway - a better walk than a ride?
One thing I've noticed when looking at the mapping is there appears to be different routes for walkers and riders in places, obviously there are sections which are footpath so the riding route uses the roads to avoid these, so there is likely less walking on roads than riding on roads. To say you've...

Re: The Ridgeway - a better walk than a ride?
Just to conform, is this 'The Ridgeway' as in between Overton Hill and Ivinghoe Beacon? There seems to be other 'ridgeways' like The Wessex Ridgeway but they get abbreviated so I get confused which were talking about :???: I'm hoping to ride 'The Ridgeway' at Easter so I can report back if you're pl...

Re: New Cat Cut Tarp
Is your tarp closed at the foot end Sean or are you relying on a bivy bag there? I now have that option  I had an off-cut just large enough to make a clip in end panel. It's not an exact fit but that should let some air through to help keep condensation down on the underside of the tarp. It ...

That second tandem card. I can make out the letters T, W and O. Maybe that's the "hidden meaning"? It could be, although I see O W O or maybe O V V O, upside down it's OMO? Like I said, it was wasted on me - the hidden meaning that is not the card. Perhaps because I know what a bike frame...

I'm sure most of you will have seen the images created when an artist asked people to draw a bike from memory and he then produced images of the results, if not these are worth a look https://mpora.com/road-cycling/artist-asks-strangers-draw-bicycle-memory-3d-renders-results#2ihLu5YvkAQ2uO4V.97 At t...

Re: bum bags
I've got the Lowe Alpine one and I like it. It's got a zip compartment on the outside for wallet/keys and also a separate zipped section inside. I use that to store my paper back-up map printouts, it's out of the way but also flat so they don't get creased. It's not completely waterproof but I doesn...

I don't think a wobbly hub could overcharge the light. I was thinking about this just the other day and came to the conclusion that if the hub could produce more power they'd make it like that in the first place. As Dave said, check the wiring first, I've had flickering with mine before due to a dam...

An 34T Absolute Black oval chainring. Tip for singlespeeders, the 34T from CRC is £5.50 cheaper than the 32T. So I run a 34/17 instead of a 32/16 as it's the same ratio but cheaper

Is my picture above showing? The bike at the side of a snowy track. It's from photbucket and I don't pay anything. Re: Photos direct from Google Pics
As per the OP's problem Photobucket changed their rules about linking from third party sites, i.e. like here, unless you pay a subscription. There's lots of old threads on various forums with Photobucket's standard "no linking" error image. That's the bit I don't understand as I don't pay...

Me neither Colin - I thought Sean was showing that the snow had returned and engulfed all in its path  I won't say I wish it was back as apart from playing on the bike the snow can be a pain, especially when it's as bad as your driveway picture showed. Just before the pic was taken (the one y...

It looks like it's still photobucket for me, which weirdly still works despite other people having issues. It's just more work as I have to download the pic from goo...

I was thinking about bearings and dyno hubs whist riding... so I gathered up all the old bearings in my workshop and the shed I could find I'd changed. For some reason they just get left about 'just in case' I need them. Quite how bad the bearings on the bike would need to be to ever consider refitt...
