Re: selling a bike, then regrets and buying another

not sold one and regretted it yet but feel I am on the verge of doing so - currently trying to sell a Brompton which has seen very little use since I bought it but I wanted to keep it, but sadly needs must financially.

Re: Glasgow bikepacking shops?

The highly rated stuff will be a substantial outlay to start with so maybe buy some of the planetx podsacs range to start with (watch out for bundle offers) and if you catch the bug then gradually upgrade and keep this as spares or to lend to others.

Re: 29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike options

had a re-think on this, particularly after test-riding various friends bikes and deciding that the gap in my bike needs is really more something in between road and lightish off-road so a gradventourer rather a drop bar mtb as a few have said on this thread already My heart is saying “get a Shand St...

Re: New Kona 'Unit X' looks very BP friendly :)

I like that - ticks a lot of boxes for me - steel, rigid, semi-fat, I'm currently in the process of re-consolidating my bikes and want to add something like this or a Krampus to it this did made me reminisce about my old mate Moggy's Super Burner back in early 1980's like one below...oh those heady ...

Re: 29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike options

but I haven’t a clue about road orientated groupsets, is Sora/lower end SRAM stuff really any cop? As you want a drop bar MTB won't in need to use a MTB groupset and not a road one anyway? With road cranks there will not be enough width to get chain clearance with bigger tyres. The Bontrack Beyond ...

Re: 29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike options

Cheers for all the input so far, keep it coming :-bd has been helpful but has probably muddied the waters yet further for me  so much choice out there. I have a few issues with going down the custom build route. Firstly, after predominately riding mountain bikes for last 25 years I’ve been happ...

29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike options

Decided my next bike will be a Steel 29er Drop-bar Mountain Bike/Monster Cross/whatever the bike mags are calling them this month - does anybody have any decent recommendations? Preferably something off the peg and under £2k. Will be used for road/light off-road riding and the odd bikepacking trip. ...

Re: What you done t' your bike today

Noticed the other day how many different manufacturers logos are on my most used bike so I decided to remove whatever I could, fortunately this included the most offensive to the eye - the huge white decals on black Mavic rims that made them resemble zebra stripes from a distance. Waited until the M...

Re: Your most inventive bike fix...

hit a tree and badly bent my handlebars, took them off and tried to straighten them in anger and snapped them. Found a stick of roughly the right length and width and whittled it down with my swiss army knife so it fit through my stem, re-attached the brakes, gear levers and grips and tried to ride ...

Re: Surly Bridge Club

cheers for responses, it is definitely on the shortlist, along with a Stooge and a Ramin 3+ for a versatile rigid bike that can take 650b+ as well as another wheel size. Hopefully nothing else in major in the house suddenly needs replacing and I can purchase this long awaited new bike before summer .

Re: Surly Bridge Club

hmm, this might scratch my Surly itch AND my Plus sized itch. Being able to run 700cc wheels is an added bonus as well as 650b+ up to 2.8" tyres. Bit disappointed to find that the rims that come with the Bridge Club will only take up to 2.5" tyres so that would probably necessitate me havi...

Zephyros 1 only £79.99 and Zephyros 2 for £99.99 at Winfield's. I'd go for the 2, not much price, weight and pack size sacrifice for the extra space
