Currently looking at getting a pair of Northwave Sparta.

+1 for the SDG Bel Air. I just replace as required with that years model. Love 'em. :)

Re: New camping bike for 2014

Do you reckon you really need 50mm rims for those 2.7 tyres? I often run a 2.4 on my 30mm rims on my FS with no problems what so ever.

Re: Tarp advice please

Hard to tell from the pic but it looks like rain might pool on the 'roof'. Could use the saddle end instead. It would give a bit more height and would make a bit more of a ridge shape for the run off. Serious reply now; I found when I experimented with the Siltarp was that if you start by pegging o...

Re: Heresy I know but...

I've not really found price to be the limiting the factor. Cheap £10 sports direct jobbies have lasted me as long as more expensive endura shorts. Current bang for buck I would suggest are the Dare2B Upshot bibs, I think maybe the new ones are the upshot 2. My review here: http://www.composite-proje...

bicycle 7 here to. I'm not big chap at all but thought the extra cover would always be welcome. I'd welcome some feedback on this setup, any problems I'm likely to encounter in the wild etc. http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/IMG_6745_resize.jpg http://www.composite-proje...

Re: Dynamos and powering stuff

Thanks for that Mart, that's the info I was after. :D I remembered this morning that Mike Hall was using a plug 2 so looked at his kit list again for the TD and he mentions about his power setup, which is actually exactly what I want. Not sure how this went out of my head... http://normallyas...

Dynamos and powering stuff

I'm currently specing a bike that I'm building for 12, 24 and unsupported bikepacking type racing/riding. I got a load of stuff already but I'm still planning some parts for it. I would like to go with a dynamo hub to power a light at night and a GPS in the day. Possibly other devices (phone) to but...

Re: Avoiding Betty Swallocks.

Oh yeah I think I have a pair of Animal Free style shorts which are very similar that have never been worn. I bought 2 pairs in a sale (was told they came up small, which they didn't) then I also promptly lost 20lbs training hard and so they are a bit big. I'll still wear the other pair for commutin...

I reviewed the Funkier MTB Baggy Shorts not so long ago. I think they probably fit the bill perfectly. http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/2013/05/funkier-mtb-baggy-shorts-clothing-review/ http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/funkier_shorts.jpg Got that at CRC http://www.ch...

If you do need to get a some tube then I would suggest going to an aquarium. You can get all sizes of tube for bugger all. :)

Re: Food for a long ride

@composite - gourmet endurance riding. A whole new Niche! I like it, they're getting my mouth watering in the office. Stu. The first time I took a load of these out I exclaimed to my ride buddies that I had cooked them all ride snacks. They all looked at each other uncomfortably for a bit. Then I b...

I have been cooking up quite a lot of my own trail food of late using the Feed zone portables book by Allen Lim. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/51pqFQRt%2ByL.jpg I have had a go at a bunch of recipes and done my own variations and written them up: http://www.composite-projects.co.uk/wp-conten...

Re: Bike packing Shropshire video

Thanks all. Telling a story is what I always try to do with my videos. There is never going to be any gnar in my stuff so giving a flavour of the day/trip is going to have to be the entertaining bit. I wish I had got a little more footage but that ride back was just over 10 hours as it was with gett...

Bike packing Shropshire video

Hi all, my first thread on here so thought I would share my latest video. It was from a trip in May that I did on my own around Shropshire and all the way back to Birmingham. Shot on a GoPro HD.
