Re: Washing.

I love Salamanca.
Stopped by on a couple of cycle trips and also spent a few weeks living with Spanish families whilst learning Spanish. I can now say ¡Hola!

Great write-up. :-bd

Never thought I would hear the name 'Gingolph' again. Did some very deep solo diving there.

Re: Pump question?

Thanks for the reply. I didn't realise that double action (DA) would make pumping more awkward. The size and weight savings may be worth it though. The Mountain Morph with hose and foot is a bit of a beast. But agree that it is good.

Pump question?

I have a Topeak Mountain Morph. 35cm. 250g.
It's big and heavy but works on tubeless setups.

Topeak do the Mountain DA. 1/2 the weight and 13cm shorter.

Has anyone tried the DA with seating a tubless tyre?

Has anyone tried both and has an opinion?

Cheers.

GENESIS Altitude. Hope wheels.

Genesis Altitude hardtail mountain bike. Size large. (I would call it med to large). Reynolds 520 chrome-moly frame. :-bd I have deliberately covered this frame in stickers and tape to make it look messy, to reduce theft. It has been used for touring. Turkey. Morocco. France. Spain. Greece. Lots of ...

Re: Blagging bike boxes in Nice?

Are you doing the Routes des Grandes Alpes? I'm doing that too in a week or two. Chamonix tomorrow is showing 24°C. But 3°C next Monday. I hope that is wrong. :???: Chamonix yesterday was +/-36°c - I mostly melted! I wonder if you're looking at a ski forecast site as they often use higher altitudes...

Remembering number plates

I often pass my time on the motorway by trying to remember number plates as cars pass by. Sometimes I will catch back up which gives me a chance to test myself. I've since found out that you are not allowed to cycle on motorways! This is great for passing some time, but also for trying to reme...
Wowsers. Were you soaked to the bone when it struck? Any recollections or were you unconscious?
I don't think being wet plays much of a part. Re: Campsite recommendations for camper van

Borrowdale Valley, Lakes, ticks all those boxes. x5 sites. x4 take vans. (More further up towards Derwent Water). Derwent Water for paddling, swimming. The site next to the river allows fires and supplies wood. Pub 5 mins walk. I don't use this one though as it is a bit of a 'free for all' = a bit n...

Re: Thunderstorms

I've been hit.

Standing next to the hut on Mt Whitney. I was doing part of the John Muir Trail.
There was a sign on the door saying 'do not enter during lightning storms as a group of people had been killed whilst sheltering inside'.
So I stayed outside and got zapped.

Re: Wildlife

PeterC :-bd Brilliant! It was driving me crazy trying to work it out. According to my birdy book, not a call, but made by vibrating the tail feathers. There were sandpipers around, a bit similar, so I wasn't really thinking of other long beakers. A very beautiful sound. So much for my ability to hea...

Re: Wildlife

This is going to be hard to explain. There are a few places in Scotland where I have heard this. Maybe once in the Lakes. In the evening, just after it gets dark, I hear something that sounds like a boomerang whizzing around in loops. The only things I know that seems to move in these loops are bats...

Well, there was me moaning about riding through bogs and now the sun won't stop shining. Drying it all out. Went over to Loch Nevis via Glendessary. Camped on the beach/grass, by the river. Beautiful trip. Stunning valley. Had a swim in the sea, then pushed/rode back up again. Stopping for a swim in...

She has mental issues. So, yes, she isn't quite right. BBC news website shows the actual incident on video.

Get off the f#=÷*^ pavement

On the BBC today. A woman gets 3 years for the death of a cyclist. Watching the video clip, I really can't see why. Although obviously, if she wasn't there, it wouldn't have happened. And the council still can't confirm if it is a shared ped/cycle path. Very clear that it isn't. Something dodgy ther...

Is there a write up of his winter Scandie ride anywhere?
Didn't see it on his web page.
I'm planning something similar. Cheers.
