Yeah SS here too.

(well 3 gears really... Sitting, Standing and Walking)

Hard work for sure and definitely lost time on the flatter road sections because of it...

Re: BB200 feed / water stops thread

Concerned about water.

Don't have a steripen or tabs for water purification. How good is stream/river water in Wales? Best taken from streams at high ground?

I know this is a pretty subjective question but any tips much appreciated...

Re: how excited

This week has been pretty hectic for me at work and the excitement has played a big part in that! Constantly getting distracted, checking the route over and over, thinking of what to pack... Do I need this, do I need that... Anyway, when I finish work today it's straight to the car hire place (my ca...

Re: BB200 Maps

I'm new to this GPS malarky! So, I'm bringing the trusty OS maps too... 1:25000

Hoping my few days of GPS practice on my commute will suffice, but I'm hopeful for many things this weekend... Surely not everything can go right! :-)

Best GPS Device

Hi all, I have been bikepacking for a few years now and its finally time for me to invest in a GPS device. I intend to do some ITTs next year so need one that I can load GPX files to and record my times etc. Any advice would be much appreciated! ALSO - how do people go about charging them mid-ride? ...

Re: WTD: 1/8th steerer 9mm qr 29er air fork

Sorry, I don't have any. But I also spent ages looking for some. I ended up finding some recon gold tk 29er... so they do exist. I also nearly bought these, they were slightly out of my price range - it was a while ago but it might be worth messaging him to see if he sold them??? http://singletrackw...

Re: Brands?

Avid brakes don't seem to be very good.

Superstar components are awful (well, brake pads and chain guides) and the worst customer service I have ever received.

Re: Tell me about taking a bike on a plane

This is an interesting discussion, I was also wondering the best way to take a bike on the plane.

I have read that the plastic bike bags are plenty enough protection, but I'm not sure I can bring myself to hand over my pride and joy in a thin plastic bag... Really?

Re: Tarp Advice

Ordered the bicycle 7 yesterday and it arrived today. Seems very light and small pack size.

Just in time for a potentially wet bivy tonight! Yay!

Thanks for all the recommendations!

Wild camping Italy... Help and advice please...

I'm planning a cycling trip around Italy with my girlfriend this summer. We intend to start at lake como (we will be in that area anyway) and head South towards Genova, then along the coast cutting inland towards Florence and on to Ancona... Roughly... We were planning on bivying wild for the most p...

Ah I see, I did wonder what 'silnylon' was... I just assumed they would all be much the same.

Will have a look on the alpkit website and persuade myself that I need one :-)

Thanks for the advice!

Jack Wolfskin Tarp

Hi, I am selling a Jack Wolfskin Moon Shadow tarp. 4m squared complete with roll top storage bag. In excellent condition, not a mark on it anywhere. Does not include pegs, guy lines or telescopic poles as I would like to keep them for my next tarp... (If anyone is selling a bicycle 7 or similar, I w...
