Re: Bargain Alert Thread

? Mine has been great - worked as expected since I got it a couple of years back. Definitely nicer than the Touring one it replaced I suspect it could be a reference to this: https://www.itv.com/news/2021-06-21/amazon-destroying-millions-of-items-of-unsold-stock-in-one-of-its-uk-warehouses-every-ye...

Thanks, as I’m Billy no mates I was hoping to tag along/meet people along the route so just wondering if there was a general time people set off or if there’s anything at the campsite to see/do before setting off.

Haven’t ridden a JennRide before and I’ve got a prior commitment on Friday night, what time is the roll out or do people roll throughout the morning?

What's all this madness? People aren't even out there yet and they're chopping bits of the route out! While I’m intending to ride the full distance(ish), I’m going to do some minor alterations like skipping the red route climbing in Grizedale after the visitor centre which from regularly ridi...

I never thought anyone would take anything seriously from the book ;-) I think you’re being modest, there’s a meeting every Tuesday at my local village hall that reads the “Gospel according to Dave” and try to interpret your teachings. There phrase “he must mean something more profound with his pro...

Does anyone else have those things that you vividly remember from a book? I’ve got a few, but oddly the one that’s comes up most often is [paraphrased] ‘put your outside foot forwards on berms’ from OCCD. It must pop into my head once or twice a week when on the MTB and it genuinely revolutionised m...

I have a pair of 5Ten Freerider EPS which have primaloft and seem to be pretty waterproof other than over the ankle obviously. I've found that when water does get it, it warms up pretty quick and stays warms like in a wetsuit. The grip is the stealth sole which is great on the pedals and I haven't r...

Custom Sonder titanium advnmnstrgrvlwnkr drop bar bike, love the versatility. Polaris Fixie straps - so simple, they don't come apart in use and torque down really tight, and I've used them for everything andincluding holding the swingarm to the car as I limped it to the scrappy. I am selling a Jamis full-sus bike that hasn't had much use, it will be well under his budget too, I am 6' tall
He may be tempted away from HT, I think it was a bang for buck but also the weight. What model do you have and how much would you be looking for?

Thanks Ton, I hadn’t spied the 141 hub. Funny really as he cancelled his order of an MK1 frontier frame as that was the same spacing, really should have checked. Will do some more digging on decent XC bikes

All rounder bike for a friend

A friend is looking to get a hardtail for red routes, gravel riding and the occasional bikepacking trip. I think he's leaning towards an XC bike as there will be likely be more gravel riding and road riding to trails than there will be big gravity days. Budget is up to £1300 but ideally around the £...

It was a V1 frame and fork he was getting which is on at £199 at the mo. I think that's what he'll probably end up doing. Not sure a used Ramin 3+ would be worth that much would it?

That's the conclusion I came to, friend cancelled the Frontier frame order to save on the hassle. Back to hunting for a cheap XL bike for him.

Ramin 3+ to Fronter (V1) parts swap

Hi all, I'm going to move the components over from a Ramin 3+ to a Frontier Rigid (v1) for a friend. (Pinnacle is a M, he's an XL, loves Rigid, just bike is too small). Just hoping I can get some advice from the hive mind on anything I'm missing. I notice the Frontier has 141 QR rear spacing. What's...

What neoprene cycling glove do people recommend? I used a set of the Aldi ones for ages but I wore through the palm after a winter of heavy use.
