Re: scottish c2c official route?
I think its called A2A - Aberdeen to Ardnamurchan. Not sure if its ever been ITT'd but just saying that will bring an avalanche of recorded times. I am working on a route incorporating Aberdeen to Breamar (Deeside way) a complete CG Loop then either Fort Augustus or William and onward using ...

Ivybridge has a station and a lane that leads right up on to the moor.
Downside is the weather you can get mist so thick up there you would never know how may turned up.

Cruds and Blades
Looks its time to fit a blade on the back.
This is just my saddle pack but my seat pack is in a similar state on one side.
With a seat pack do you use a blade or let the seat pack take the brunt?

Re: A clearer vision
Good news and bad news. The good news is that I found exactly what I need in my Opticians on a display on their counter. Everything about them is right in terms of fit construction and a flexi bridge seal to stop your eyes streaming at speed. The bad news is they require a spherical lenses in poly-c...

Re: With the onset of winter ...
Yeah I ride round East Hill and Sidmouth a fair bit. Just started running up at East Hill. Not sure how long it will last as I can't decide whether I like running or not, the hills don't seem to agree with me! Take your bike with you I use Salcombe Hill and Peak Hill as training with my bike. For S...

Winter planning
For something to plan over the winter thought I would have look at the Wales C2C.
I have been to North Wales Idwal Tryfyn areas and Brecon but not the bit in the middle.
Thinking of the Great Orme/Swansea route anyone got a gpx they would care to share?

Re: A clearer vision
I find the problem is refocusing to read the GPS. The time it takes to get it all back into something approaching readable is too long. I think I need to play with colours I know I dont see blue/green colours correctly so will try different colours. I think I read here or another place that you shou...

Can I take it that you have the 29er/650 version with shorter chain stays not the 29er+?

A clearer vision
I can’t read my GPS and its my fault as I chose ‘seeing’ lenses as opposed to varifocals in my Sunwise cycling glasses. The start field of vision is just beyond where my GPS is mounted but luckily, I know the routes since before I had GPS but I can see (sic) that were I trying to follow a route it w...

Re: Whats lighting your ride?
What rear lights are people using (especially interested in usage when running a saddle bag/dry bag on the seat)? A basic 4 way Cateye. Have got permanent bike mount on seatpost or just clips onto pack when covered or failing that on me. Dont bother off road unless riding in a group saves getting s...

Re: Ever get bored of tracking miles?
Unless I get in the car and go somewhere to ride there is really only one decent ride I can do from home. I know the route from pre GPS days but I still use my GPS so that I can get used to how it works, what happens when I make a deviation and monitor battery life. Plus I have data to play with bac...

I have been using a one man tent with footprint and floored net inner but thinking of changing to a tarp for space and weight saving. With a tarp what do you use on the ground to protect your sleeping pad? I have seen some footprints but cannot see any for the tarps I have been looking at say AK bic...

Many years ago I had a copy of Richards Bicycle Book which had a fascinating chapter on how to kill a dog if it actually attacked you.

Re: First GPS
If you are using a battery to recharge batteries you're wasting power as there will always be a loss. You'd be better plugging the battery pack in directly to the device.
Could be very wrong but I was under the impression etrex did not recharge via usb.

Re: First GPS
I went the etrex route in preference to say edge because the batteries are AA rechargeable. I can swop them out on the go and recharge using a pebble and usb recharge holder. I am not sure if the edge batteries are accessible or it is a send off for replacement. Unless you have a dynamo you need to ...
