Interesting, would you think 29x2.8 would be a reasonable fit?

Re: Sonder Broken Road Owners - Whatcha Reckon?

I did pretty much exactly the same as ssnowman Jones bars, rigid carbon forks, ages looking just to come back to this. I’m running 2x which needed some thinking to get the cable to work, ended up with a problem solver cable stop. Very happy with mine (Mk1), rear is up to around 29x2.6 iirc. Although...

It does come in around that price.

650b+ Boost rear wheel options

My rear wheel this morning decided to have a mechanical. Something to do with the freewheel and no doubt quite fixable. But the wheel came as OEM on another bike and was fitted to that bike as cheap stuff to get a bicycle shaped thing by the manufacturer, but I had them and decided to run them until...

Re: Strapping a bicycle to an expensive rubber dinghy

Cheers John, for both the link and the offer. I’ll go take a watch.

Pedal, as much as anything. Is in the footwell and quite annoying.

Strapping a bicycle to an expensive rubber dinghy

Any top tips?

It all looks simple enough. I’ve just tried the hardtail onto the Caribou. The pedals are a concern, the inboard on would be removed at the very least as it’s in the footwell the way I’ve loaded the bike.

Scotroutes has already suggested a barrier between bike and dinghy.

Re: SOS only PLB vs subscription service Satellite Communicator

That is useful thank you. Yes, I’ll either be in a kayak or a 5 man skiff. The Skiff is still handheld in terms of radios. The Skiff is part of a club so no need to sort a radio for that. Just a license to use it. I have a local provider for the training albeit online. I’ll have a look at the built ...

Whilst I’m at it. Any marine radio users here. The rowing club use these so I’ve booked the RYA Marine Radio Course. Any advice on actual units if I go down the road of owning a radio. I’m hovering over the buy button for the Ocean Rescue PLB1 from a well known purveyor of Sea Kayaks in Scotland.

Any reason not to trigger?

Re: SOS only PLB vs subscription service Satellite Communicator

Thank you both. Interesting point about being in touch with the operator. I can see that making a difference in a stressful situation. The lack of live tracking is another thing that stands out. It was the Ocean Signal I was looking at. FWIW it’d be attached to me, either clipped to a PFD or Life Ja...

SOS only PLB vs subscription service Satellite Communicator

Anyone have experience of both options of emergency SOS devices? I know what the obvious difference between the two types are, but some real world feedback would be insightful. At the minute I’m inclined to go with an SOS only PLB. The majority of usage will be in a very small boat in Salt Water, an...

Yeah but, no but. No seat, which is both uncomfortable and can be very, very cold. Lightweight material so calm waters only. Might have a place for some specific trips but I don't think it could be your "only" packraft. You need at least three really. Ultra Light Load Hauler White W...

Re: Hot and bothered

I usually just take the hottest 4-5 weeks of the year as a (not total) rest phase. Hardest training is done mid winter for me. If it gets proper toasty I just get in the sea, literally. I also, perhaps counterintuitively wear a gilet when running as the temperature starts to average up from Spring t...

Re: What's the weekend got in store?

You jest but. Whilst strolling along a back road I looked ‘into’ one of the “paths” that head up the hill, wondered to myself how many ticks are in there. Then without much thought lifted my lower leg into the undergrowth (actually should be a path) took my leg back out and removed a Tick. Didn’t ev...
