Re: Gatherings?

I think I’d be taking a good look at not just how to do it safely, but by organising any gathering what liabilities would I risk by doing anything at all. To be honest, our household does a lot of event work, it’s a total cluster**** and I’ve not really paid any attention as to whether you have any ...

105 shifters, the rattle is a design feature

Also, I managed to get an autocorrect typing the above that came up with “Pithecanthropus“

As I’ve just found out, now is a good time to get rid of stuff. Seems to be a sellers market out there.

Re: E-Bikepacking

I get the worrying about 50mph uphill etc, but certainly on the flat there are probably lots of folks on here that could actually ride through town breaking the speed limit on a normal bike:) On a bicycle? Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

I was going to take some bottles in my old lady's trolley to the bottle bank, but fiddling with sleeping bags is much more fun.... hang on.....back in a sec.... I’ve gone for the Hispar 300 with a full length zip. The custom versions I looked at came in heavier and more expensive somehow. So ...

Any rules against joining half way through a year? I lost a stone early on then stalled. Could probably do with a nudge in the right direction.

Finding it very hard to look past this https://www.phdesigns.co.uk/hispar-300- ... g-bag-2020

About the only concern I have (assuming I can get a full length zip) is the pack size.

Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

True But that’s hard to measure What I do know is the EN rating on my current bag and that bag has generally been about right albeit I’d like a little more insulation. So as long as I end up with something about there, it’ll be warm enough. That’s an issue if I buy from someone that uses their own r...

Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

The existing bag that does all this weighs 1.2kg and I’d rather it didn’t and can be retired to van camping where it can last a lifetime with care.
Correction, my current bag weighs 1.61kg

Does anyone have a good guide to sleeping bag ratings. I believe my existing bag is using the EN system.

Sooo, I think the sleeping bag is going to be custom. Helped along by an impending birthday.

I have PHD Designs and possibly Cumulus on the radar. Anyone else I should consider?

Columbia have a summer sale running. There’s a 10% discount code too “EXTRA10” for 2 or more items, not sure if that applies to sale item.

Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

I'm a bit of a wuss so I don't use my cumulus / Criterion UL350 below 1 degree. I've used it at -4 with lots of clothes on and it was chilly. I'm 6'1" and my problem is that I stretch it a bit which I reckon is why I get cold. My cumulus 150 quilt is pretty much as warm and way lighter. Used t...

Re: Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

I have the Quantum 350, and think it’s great. I do wonder if they’re being generous with the -6 rating, but I’ve never actually been cold in it, and that includes every Bearbones winter bivi I’ve been on. In terms of tents, I’ve got a Laser Comp, but I’ve wondered about the Solar as a winter tent. ...

Sleeping Bag Rated to -6 and a tent 3 edging into 4 season tent

I find myself in the market for a sleeping bag, top of the current list is a Criterion Quantum 350. Anything else in that ball park I should be thinking of? Theoretically I should fit ok in that bag, but something with a little extra wriggle room might be worth looking at, I’m 6 foot and just shy of...
