@RP...just seeing those makes me long to be back on that route. Keep those maps away from heat sources...they melt very easily!
Enjoy the reading.
[EDIT] Are the Butte detours in there? Shouldn't follow I15, but goes around town and comes in from the opposite end to the Outdoorsman. [/EDIT]

Montbell hut booties and some new moleskin...gotta look after the feet after a day in the saddle.
A new nano packtowel as the last one suffered a horrible death at the hands of SPF70 sunscreen. That stuff just doesn't wash out.

This day amongst many others sticks with me...descending down to the Colorado river and back up the other side of the valley. The section from Salida to Platoro was amazing as well. Re: 1950g heavy for a winter bag?
I suspect it's all down (no pun intended) to how low a temperature you want to go. PHD have bags that heavy going well below -20C. My preferred vendor (zpacks) goes to -12C but is < 1000g, so nearly half that weight. How much clothing you're prepared to wear inside the bag/shelter can also help. A 1...

I'm pretty well sold on my Zpacks if you're in the business of splashing out some dough. http://www.zpacks.com/quilts/sleepingbag.shtml

One of the racers went with the eTrex 20 consciously so as to not have any altimeter data, thinking it would drive him insane on the climbs, but in the end he said he'd wished he'd had it...<snip> Snap! Precisely why I didn't bother...I didn't want to know how long I'd be climbing for. "I'm hu...

Re: GPS devices
I skimped and went with Etrex 20. Holds a map and a line just fine which is all you really want when you're busy pedalling and glancing at the screen. Excellent battery life (between 5 and 7 days with 12 hour sessions each day) when activating the backlight only occasionally. Go with the genuine Gar...

Re: Ford Fiesta newbie...will i die?
I doubt you'll die. I'm running with a tent, down bag and thermarest, so you're not alone in that category. I would say at the very worst, you might get a little lost (GPS is useful here)...a little hungry (carry some food)...a little wet (rain jacket and dry socks for the night time). Carry the too...

Well I'm out. Seems like what happened to my left knee earlier in the year has now happened in my right knee. KT tape is your friend. Support the afflicted area and you'll be up and running in no time. Also, if you can get your hands on a Tens unit, drop that on there as well. A few hours a day of ...

To add to that...clearance between your front harness and the top of the tyre - you can wear a hole in things during heavy compression (happened to me on a Superfly with Fox Evo CTD's).

To add to the carnage/confusion... I've just had a spin around mid Wales with some BearBones folks on my vintage 26er with V brakes. The only time I wished for bigger wheels was a spot of wet rocks where 29 inch wheels would've allowed me to roll over some of the bigger obstacles a little easier. Th...
