Probably going to head down to Moffat and go in via the Romans and Reivers route.
Well, we know how you love a bit of HaB

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy 9th/10th December

I'm hoping to clear the decks for this but up against dog duties, 'Dad's Party Bus' needs and a badminton match. For those who don't know the area around Greensykes, you'll probably pass Jamestown and the birthplace of Thomas Telford https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/t/thomastelford...

If you go to Greensykes, you'll probably pass Jamestown and the birthplace of Thomas Telford https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usbiography/t/thomastelford.html#google_vignette Loads of 'celtic' stuff around there (not hoops related) and the Buddhist monastery too. Just your average Borders back...

Ooh, if I can sort the dog out, that would be doable. Some nice pedalling round there. And it has a toilet (or am I misremembering.....)

I've been really impressed with RAB Crank pants. Expensive, but can't fault them. Not waterproof, but just did a long weekend in the Cairngorms with bib longs underneath. Very comfy on their own when warmer.

Re: Bivvy a month 2023.

Edit: Think of the hammock as a U-shaped piece of fabric wrapped around you. The underquilt is a further 'U' wrapped around the outside of the hammock. The top-quilt is then like an 'n' on top of you. Yep, got it now. Sticking the ground, for the foreseeable though. canal bridge, another "firs...

I've only just realised why they are called under quilts  I wondered how they gave any warmth when you lay on them
Can you not just attach them to the underside of the hammock? I've probably still misunderstood.

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

Nukeproof bottom brackets - GXP @ £10 and DUB @ £15. I've found them pretty good and the bearings are easy to replace. The DUB at £15 is cheaper than the replacement bearings mind you.

Fitted, and test ridden. Most likely threaded one of the bolts, as they appear to be made of cheese. Also looks like I need to service the clutch again after the repeated dunking on the BB200. https://media.bobarnott.com/gravel/2023-11-09-fitted.jpeg Is there still a hosepipe ban in place down your...

I'm going to give this route a bash next year; there I've said it, can't not do it now. Can't see me getting round anywhere near that fast though! Might get one of those Restrap carry harness things for those two big HAB sections. I wouldn't bother with the strap on Boab - the carries aren't long e...

Can the walking ones be attached using the standard Garmin mounts?
Not the mounts you'd use with a Garmin bike gps - 500, 1000 etc. The erred mounts are larger and the device slides in, rather than twists.

Quite like a Diplomatico. Had a nice Plantation one that had Pineapple tree bark in it at some point. Would recommend. Generally I'd avoid the spiced stuff. Mostly low quality booze with too many additions to try and cover it up Lamb's all the way for me - #oldskoolhardcore In other news DT make ex...

Merlin have got some very good prices on a number of things at the moment, including new FF29 frames at £399, TRP Slate and Slate Evo brakes for £70-£90 (F&R set!), but this Deore 12 spd boost crankset looks very good value, 170 and 175mm options, 32 tooth £37: https://www.merlincycles.com/shim...
