Hmm - the guy put his hand on the mirror to keep pace with him... Thats a total no-no unless your a pro and the guy in the car is the team doctor so I suspect there is more to this than the story suggests....

Re: The demise of the Hydro bothy

Interesting Bob. The gate where the access road emerges at the estate used to be locked and the kissing gate beside it too tight for a bike. There was also barbed wire wrapped round the top rails of the gate and kissing gate to make it harder for bikes to be lifted across - my Krampus has a nice big...

Re: Bye bye access rights

Sadly such laws are typically knee jerk reactions by politicians in order to 'be seen to be doing something' a horrible phrase that has become widely accepted in modern parlance but in fact means precisely Hee Haw - i.e its got to look like we are doing something without actually doing something. Se...

Re: Cairngorms Loop 300 - September Group Start

Hi that was me on the SS - 32x18. I was indecisive at the start about whether I would sleep or not, ended up bringing a bivvy and lightweight bag in case I wanted to sleep for a few hours but never used them. I want to go back and see that northern section in the daylight :-bd Well done Mike Yes th...

Re: Thermarest Hyperion sleeping bag reviews

Iirc the hammock specific TQ are narrower. Theory being in a hanmock your UQ wraps up the sides. Yep very much this. I've a Taiga 350 hammock quilt which is perfect in my hammock but not so good on a mat if it's cold or windy. It doesn't wrap my giant manly shoulders. So, it's just not wide enough ...

Re: Thermarest Hyperion sleeping bag reviews

Slight hijack, I was just looking at the enlightened quilts on Stu's link above as I'm after a replacement for my aging cumulus ultralight 350 for mild winter, cold spring and autumn nights. They also have a Cumulus Taiga 350 quilt - advertised as for hammocks but I can't see why it wouldn't do for ...

Stu can I do that please? Just say the word oh great one. Re: Which Hope hubs for a gravel wheelset

RS4's have 2 pawls in the freehub, Pro4's have 4.
6 bolt is easier to live with (having just bought a set of Hunt wheels with centre locks  )
I'd go with pro 4's but spec a stainless steel freehub.
Or as per Scot routes comment go with shimano, add 50g's but save a bomb......

The other day I took a notion to do a double century after reading Dave's 'The Year' again. And I did. Departed the house at 7 on a circuit I'd plotted to get as far north as possible. Across to Callander, up NCN7 to Killin (gravel-tastic), up glen Lochay and over the fearsome pubil road climb then ...
