Re: Today's Run
Not today's, but Sunday's run... Cavendish Cancer care (a charity which has massively helped my family & friends) lost 5 charity runners for Sunday's Sheffield half marathon due to illness. I signed up last night and picked up a vest today. Not run for 6 weeks, but done plenty of riding so finge...

Re: Today's Run
Looks an excellent event Greg - wish I'd known it was on, as it would have made a great return to fell running after a couple of months off!

Also, it's my 9 year old daughter's first match for her first football team in the morning and she's hugely excited! The small Landslides have just joined teams, we might see you on the touchlines! Is your avatar the bear in Sheffield Botanical gardens? If so, then almost certainly! Mine has joined...

Re: Yay, it's cheery Friday.
Very minor cheery day, but I was teaching last lesson listening to a torrential downpour and thinking how lovely my waterproof jacket must look hung up in my garage.... Sadly, I was 15 miles away... And then, just before the bell tolled for my ritual drowning, the clouds blew away, sun came out and ...

Picked mine up from the postie depot today - currently testing it out in the garden and seems to work great with my TKmaxx bargain £2.99 stainless steel mug! Thanks Stu

I've got dmr V12, superstar nano, NS plastic and Odyssey plastic ones. I'd rank them in that order - V12 being the best.

A friend of mine had one of those following an operation, and was a big fan. He said it felt very strange at first, and missed the nose to lean against when standing, but kept it on his bike

Re: PSA: Fred Bars.
Current trend/thinking with aero bars on TT bikes is quite high though, using the hands to interrupt the airflow around the shoulders and face. Given the proportionally longer top tube on a mountain bike, I'd think these could end up pretty close to ideal? Not sure I've enough cash to buy some, but ...

Re: Today's Run
Very little running at the minute - ground is dry enough that a short bike ride requires no cleaning so I'm doing that instead of short runs. Did get out for a fair sized one last Friday, as I broke up a day before the kids. Mate of mine took the morning off so we set off early. Took the direct way ...

Re: Anyone ride track?
Nothing like as much experience as some above, but I've done a couple of taster sessions and a couple of private ones at Manchester. Absolutely loved it, and if it wasn't for the crappy traffic in Glossop and having 2 small kids I'd be over from Sheffield at least once or twice a month. Really fancy...

Re: The Price of Lube
As I ride locally on the sand, all my bikes (even if they don't go on the sand) get this on them, I've been using it for years and it's brilliant and lasts a very long time too. So I only take a tiny amount of squirt on over night trips. Works well and saves money (and it's totally different to the...

Wtd/swap 165mm road cranks
I'm building a road bike from spares for my wife, and currently only got 175 cranks. Anyone got a set of 165s they would swap for some nice 175mm Shimano cx50 or sell? Shimano road fit, 110 5 bolt please.

Wheel off smart trainer and a mat to go under it for my wife, who wants to use Zwift to get back in shape. Oval 32t ring for me.
Not postal, but picked up an XS women's giant carbon disk road frameset to build up for her to use on said trainer.

There was a disco going on, and a pretty sizeable length of Christmas lights, at the top of the fireroad climb at Strathpuffer last year. I think there was another near the finish too?

Re: Today's Run
Not run in a while, but got to the lakes on Monday. Camped in the torrential rain Sunday night, had a rather delicious curry in Kendal. Started the run from Kentmere, round the first half of the Kentmere horseshoe (Sallows, Yoke, Ill Bell, Froswick & Thornthwaite Crag) and then up to high street...

That looks great, and has inspired me to have a go at the route. Pretty sure I'll not be challenging the FKT, but it looks eminently doable in a long day. Thanks!

Sorry to break up the art discussion, but the postie brought me a rather lovely, and massive, set of Blutos for the front of my fat bike. Always vaguely fancied a pair, put a watch on the ones at chainreaction with 60% off and bought them the minute I got an email saying that they're available. Now ...

Re: Wet Gear Query
OMM kamelika (or something like that!) smock works well for me. It's my old fell running one, and is starting to fall apart after 10 years. Not quite as storm proof as my heavy duty Patagonia jacket, but stretchy, breathable and noticeably warmer on cold wet days than its super light replacement. Al...
