Great ride Ian. I've ridden that hill a few times and I dread it every time!

Re: Guided bike packing

Anything that encourages people to get outside and do stuff is a good thing.

Also, there are some things that people need to be guided on that you won't necessarily "pick up" along the way such as leaving no trace and caring for the environment.

Re: Lakes200 gpx problems

Upload it to bike hike and then download it as a track directly to the unit. Decrease the number of track points to 499. Should be fine then.

Re: The post man's been ...

Having used my Jones bars with esi chunky grips, my wrists do feel like they are slightly kinked and I get nerve pain. I've fitted the new grips and they do seem like an improvement (on a 5 minute spin around the block) but time will tell I guess. I figured that they're worth a punt for £20 as I cou...

Travers fork (and other goodies!) from John Climber. Looks ace John. Thanks!
Also, some Ergon Gc1 grips to try with my Jones bars.

Pics to follow when all fitted...

Re: Quilts (again sorry)

I've got a cumulus 150 and it's fine for summer. Wish it was a little wider though but I'm L/XL so maybe it's not best suited to my girth.
I've got an enlightened equipment quilt (in wide) for winter that's a better fit.

I'll take it (them). Whatever you want to do.
Happily pay £100 for both or £85 for the fork if you think you can get more for the hub.

Take my money!

Re: FS - 29er+ carbon Travers fork

Ok, that makes sense. Sorry! I'd assumed that the "plus" element makes it a new boost hub width or something. I've just bought some nice hope pro 4 wheels and don't want to use a new hub! If it's a standard 100mm hub, it'll be fine. Looks like a tapered fork from the pictures, if it is I'l...

John, that's a great price.

I take it that it's a non-standard hub width if you're including the hub too?

What rigid forks are people using these days?

Had toyed with the idea of a new frame but like my Scott so thinking of getting a 29er rigid fork instead to swap as and when. Can anyone recommend anything? Have seen a couple of used Niner forks around the £200 mark but don't want to spend that much. Not sure whether to risk a carbon eBay special ...

Re: Bike bag storage at Keflavik airport

Hi Gari, Off the top of my head, I can't remember. I've had a Google and it appears that there is storage near enterprise rent a car on the departure side but it's expensive (10 euros a day for the first week) As the previous post, there is storage at the hostel/campsite in Reykjavik which I think i...

I've used a tarptent stratospire 2 for hiking trips with the wife and for duo bikepacking trips. We use 2 carbon poles in place of trekking poles.
It's a dual entrance tent too with space each side for a pack in the porch.

As an aside, why include a route with HAB if there are alternative options? I want to ride my bike, not walk!
