Re: Lakeland 200 - real world experience PLEASE
About a week after Rich's dry run, I set off for a casual pace multi-day attempt. Staverley to the top of Walna Scar road was ride-able despite it absolutely pissing it down, the only pushing was due to lack of fitness/not gearing down the singlespeed... The next day was dry but there were some bogg...

Set of poles from Stu. Just in time for a couple of practice-pitches/garden beers while visiting parents this weekend.

Re: Anyone got a gpx of the mary townelely loop
I've used this one before, not sure where it came from originally. Most of the route is fairly well signed. https://www.dropbox.com/s/5d36ph1zj2z4v0b/Mary_Towneley_Loop.gpx Linked in bikehike too http://www.bikehike.co.uk/mapview.php?lnk=https://dl.dropbox.com/s/5d36ph1zj2z4v0b/Mary_Towneley_Loop.gpx

Re: How to mount Exposure lights with handlebar bag on
Helmet light not essential but helpful on techy terrain where you look around a corner before steering into it. Also if honking up a hill my bars flop left/right whereas you look straight ahead. They're also handy for mechanicals, map checking, rummaging in bags for that elusive Clif bar, figuring ...

Re: A tour of the Lakeland 200
Looks like conditions were much better than when I went a week later. Think it rained the Monday and then pissed down on the Wednesday while we were heading from Staveley to Coniston. Dried up before a push/ride/push/ride/sit/push up Walna Scar and then very boggy in places after that (thankfully th...

Re: Lakland 200
I can see what you mean about needing good weather. Rode from Staverly to Coniston in the pouring rain, riding was generally good, only a couple of slippy slate and a bit of a push up an impromptu river near Grizedale. Day 2 was the complete opposite, sunny, hot and ended up being more pushing than ...
