Re: AK tarpstar

Agreeing with Stu, half inner would be much better in the wet. I have an MLD spinnaker supermid and it's huge. Have slept two adults, dog and kit inside in comfort, and also had three blokes sitting, drinking and playing cards out of the wind and rain. But when that door opens, all the rain goes dow...

Re: Removing tyre advice

I have the tyre bead tool but only really works for seating them, not taking them off

Nothing to add as most of the things I would've done have already been recommended. Always slightly worrying when a job at home is grief, would be impossible out on the trail!

Re: Bivvy a month 2022

Popped out for a last minute bivy on Thursday night. Was a bit of a rush, had family staying with us and then was away camping with the family the day after so left once I’d gathered most of the kit for the family trip Went out on my electric cargo bike as I needed to pick up some food for the famil...

Re: Bargain Alert Thread

OMM refurb outlet has been restocked. Some good bargains there including a medium rotor vest for £70, cracking bit of kit. A few waterproofs too

Re: What's your current dream bike?

Ah sorry Ben, I didn't spot you'd already bagged it! Maybe we could share one  . They don't do one with a telescopic seat post and higher bars for now, which I need, so you can let me know how you get on with this current version :-bd  Would mean getting rid of my current one, which I'...

 At the variety of views  That's what makes life interesting! I admit I did say e-Brompton back on the first page. But I've changed my mind. Instead, I'd like a.... Brompton. https://www.brompton.com/t-line If I phoned home maybe I could even have an e-T-Brompton.... Interesting question ...

Re: What's your current dream bike?

Interesting question this, I don’t actually have an answer There’s nothing I really want or fancy right now. I like the idea of having a singlespeed again but wouldn’t actually use it much Happy with my current selection of bikes. Actually, I like the look of the new all Ti Brompton, don’t need it, ...

Re: The (almost, kindof) perfect down/synthetic jacket and spork/fork?

Not sure about that exact jacket, but just be aware that Patagonia stuff is often cut quite boxy. They're made for the US market UK and european brands tend to offer a better cut (although Paramo and the likes excluded :-) ) I research things fairly thoroughly before buying something, jackets and in...

Re: The (almost, kindof) perfect down/synthetic jacket and spork/fork?

My favourite synthetic jacket is no longer made sadly, the berghaus hypertherm

Shaf, have a look at OMM. They use the latest gold insulation, I have a rotor vest and it's ace. It's 12g heavier than my bear bones gilet!

What was the result of the ritual, Reg? Did you have any visions or visitors? I bagged my June bivvy last night too. Realised quite late is was the solstice and don't have a lot of opportunities to get out between now and the end of the month, plus the weather was lovely. Lobbed the essentials into ...

Re: Substitute for chamois creme

I've always heard good things about sudocrem

But I don't use anything or any pads. Just normal boxers and MTB shorts. Generally don't do long trips though, most is 3 nights generally. Although if I did, I'm not sure I'd change my approach

I've been using a Smart R2 in that position for years. Have both the USB and AA powered tyres, work great

Re: Anyone made a dropper-specific bag yet?

Works fine, you just can't mount it all the way at the top like you can on an internal so you lose a bit of drop

DP mount works very well, good value and works well

Still have a clearance problem on a FS but fine hardtail or rigid
