Re: Anyone using a Scandal 29er for bikepacking?
I too like steel frames but buying an inbred would mean also buying a new seat post, clamp and front mech but the frame is cheaper in the first place. With a Scandal everything would just swap over from my current frame. Would the weight saving really only be a pound or two?

Anyone using a Scandal 29er for bikepacking?
I am thinking of putting a rigid On One Scandal 29er together for bikepacking/dayride use. Does anyone have experience of this frame for bikepacking and if so what do they think?

People are strange.
My stedaughter has a horse and I sometimes have to see to it when she is away. Near enough everyone at the stables wanders around in skintight jodphurs and no one bats an eye, I cycled up the other day in skintight lycra longs and everyone stared at me like i was some kind of wierdo pervert. I am no...

Re: Do believe the Hype - deserving gear.
Switched to flatties about 8 months ago for bikepacking use but it's not the pedals i'm recommending, it's the pair of Five Ten Impact boots I bought to go with them. Not fantastically waterproof but standing up well to the abuse I give them, very sticky on the pedals and great for when your having ...

Re: Life cycle of a bivi beginner
Just been looking at dog panniers, apparently a dog can carry up to 15% of it's own body weight so your lab could probably carry some of your gear too, bonus 8-) .

Re: Life cycle of a bivi beginner
If your going to take your dog then I think that he too should be warm at night, maybe a dog coat of some sort. Of course you would not have to carry it as you can get doggy panniers so he can carry his own gear and food, being a working dog he would probably enjoy being given something to do :) . P...

Re: I think not.
Apparently someone camping near them had had enough by Saturday so left telling them they could have their tent as they couldn't be bothered to take it down. A nice waterproof one, things always work out. Now I've just got to go and pick them up. Does this make me a meanie? I would have told her tha...

Re: I think not.
I could have lent her a decent 3 man tent but she previously borrowed two sleeping bags and a bag liner for an overnight camp with her mates by one of the reservoirs in the Pentlands. Never been seen since, value about £150 thank you very much! Never again. Does this make me a meanie? PS. No SOS as ...

Re: I think not.
I might have to rescue my stepdaughter and her pals from T In The Park tonight, seems their Tesco's £22 tent isn't waterproof and most of their gear is wet. Not looking forward to that but it might be easier than picking them up on monday when it finishes. Maybe I should be looking forward to winter...

Re: Looking forward to winter!
Apparently global warming is not going to make Britain warmer  , what it is going to do is give us wet summers   . If this is just the start then I'd emmigrate now.......or take up white water canoeing! PS. I hate the winter, get up in the dark, go to bed in the dark then. If we had s...

Hi gairy, yes still using mine, it's been used on three outings and it works just fine, never had to tighten or adjust it. Have a good trip whatever choice you end up making.

Re: Alpkit Framebag Launch this weekend
I don't think the lack of straps will cause a bag to bulge any more than a one with lots of straps. Any container made of a flexible material will bulge when you pack stuff in it unless it is a sphere (it's just physics). The only way to reduce bulging would be some way of connecting the centre poin...

Map apps for iPad?
Does anyone know of any decent mapping apps for an iPad? I can't use OS getamap because you need silver light which iPad does not support and I have tried using Bikehike but you don't seem to have much control over cursors and even less when dragging. OS does a 1:50000 app which covers large areas, ...
