It's an alien parasite that enters the body from under your finger nail. From the time it disappears you have approximately 36 hours to live. Best get your last bivi in I'd say.

Re: Scottish Winter Bivvy

Anyone got any ideas for this? I keep thinking of places and then discounting them as they are all local to me. Thought about Bothies as the weather will be rubbish probably but a large group turning up to a bothy is probably a no no. Or even a small group. I've thought of some non mba huts but the...

Re: Borders 2021 Group Start

Andrew Broadway and Donald McIntosh look as though they'll finish today but given their equal speed and constant lead changes its hard to say who'll be home first.

Borders 2021 Group Start

Five set off from Peebles at 8am this morning with a good weather forecast over the week end. Andrew Broadway Donald McIntosh and Richard Sidney on the 350 whilst Pete Gretton and Colin Todhunter ride the 220 together. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51407843668_2aa1482ca0_z.jpg IMG_20210828_080...

Re: Inside or outside?

I'm sort of 50/50. When I plan a ride I prefer to have a destination in mind for the end of the day and bothies are a good point to head for. Using bothies also allows me to indulge in my pyromania too as I do like a real fire. I am pretty anti social as well and tend to use bothies mid week when th...

Re: Where can I watch the full Olympic mtb xc race?

Eurosport. Most of the Olympic coverage is behind a paywall this year. https://www.theguardian.com/media/2021/jul/25/bbc-olympics-coverage-misses-events-after-selling-tv-rights I'd not realised as I've a Eurosport subscription and been watching it all there! Thanks but I refuse to pay to watch sport.

Tom Gibbs Record Breaking Borders 350 Write Up

Tom kindly sent me a write up of his record breaking Borders 350 ride and doesn't mind me sharing it. He finished in 49 hours and 20 minutes. The previous best was set by Alex Pilkington at 56 hours and 29 minutes. Tom believes a sub 48 hour ride is possible. Tom started at Moffat rather than the of...

It’s a shameful waste of money and resources. Quite frankly I think space tourism should be banned before it starts. It’s bad enough that people feel entitled to fly wherever and whenever they like, now the 1% want to piss about in low earth orbit. The whole thing is f’ing awful X_X Agree whole hea...

I did the Union Canal between Edinburgh and Glasgow and whilst it passed through some lovely countryside I was more than glad when I turned off to head towards Milnganvie to start the West Highland Way.

Lots of bothies being used despite requests not to. Pointless locking them as the types using them would in all probability break in.
