Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

I have thought about it, as I agree, it's a bit mad we haven't met in the middle somewhere yet. Would love to do a bit more riding in The Chiltern Hills, as I've pretty much just been on the Icknield Way and would like to explore them a bit more. Not adverse to a slower couple of days, assuming I r...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

A quick "Happy Birthday" to that stalwart Bammer - James G :-bd . I think it's your "Granite" birthday - a bivvy in Aberdeen to celebrate perhaps? 'Bammer' has a slightly different meaning up here  But still rather applicable in present company methinks  . I ...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

For a change, I know exactly where that is, having cycled passed it on a few occasions now. It's always looked a bit too busy to pitch up at, but just where you hang a right to head back to the visitor centre, and tap, I've thought about going straight on, and kipping there, on the edge. Yo...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

Bit breezy out there. With our usual sense of skill and daring... oh alright, sense of tomfoolery and harebrainery... we chose one of the windiest days of the year to go via the highest point in Bedfordshire. Yes I know it's not Scafell Pike but there's not much between us and the Black Mountains. B...

Re: Bivvy a Month 2024

MP is proposing an extension of The Rules. He'd like to allow a fusion of cars and bikes for BaMs - pedal cars. Excellent idea and I shall allow him to elaborate. I'd like propose an extension to his extension - pedalos! A sort of fusion of bikes and... what... packrafts?

Yeah, missed you missus  Live BaM In Progress. Emergency BaM called by MuddyPete. Half seven, shove some gear into some bags, out the door at eight. Apparently high likelihood of kipping in a cathedral - now that will definitely put the cat amongst the pigeons in the sheds/structures fraterni...

Re: Saddle design

Not tried that one (£130+?!) but as part of my Great Saddle Investigation I bought one of these: https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53508957759_fe5342315c_z.jpg ... which I have to say wasn't 100% successful, so I then had a go with one of these which strangely enough almost worked... https://live....

Did I overthink everything to do with this? Yes. Did I change my mind about where to go than five times? Yes. Did I delay because I was too scared to commit? Yes. Welcome to the game! Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

I usually avoid the need to wriggle out of waterproofs by aiming for good weather. That way I also avoid all the issues of tarps and tents by carrying neither. It often works well, but not always :| Ah well, I like to avoid issues of carrying any shelter at all and sleeping in sheds but that doesn'...

Re: Have tarps lost their popularity?

Indeed... the only tent with a huge space in which you can get out of your wet kit easily is one you can stand up in! Unless you can stand up, both tarps and tents are a wriggle job to get out of wet gear so that cancels out.

Head-on collision...... BANG!

You could always blow up your bivvybag and use it as an air-bag in said collision.

But of course a tarp is much easier to get out of in case of an accident......

Now you're talking! Sounds like a new competition. A bit like when kids party entertainers ask what animal/vegetable/rude shape you'd like them to make with those squeaky modelling balloon things. Squeak! Actually wouldn't the 'Thong' have to be made out of lace? Possibly even less practical tarp ma...

In a fusion of interleaving posts I wonder if Teapot would eat pineapple for breakfast. Maybe if it was hollowed out and had a mouse hidden inside it? In a genuine, for once for Reg, Cheery Friday report; I've just been down to the river to check on my little guerilla-planted babies (23 oak saplings...
