As secure as possible. Any looseness will make it move about and ultimately involve either the bag escaping or the strapping un-doing itself. If you're just fastening your bag to the bars without a harness you'll generally have it interfering with the cables so your saying i would be better off wit...

your bar pack looks like its sinched up tight to the bars, I can see mine id going to be a problem on the cable front because I run a 45mm stem, it looks like your seat pack has 3 straps around it? are they standard clip together webbing straps? cheers for any info :)
