That sounds fantastic, thanks.
I'd submit Nan shepherd - the living mountain her beautiful and physical description of the Cairngorms always makes me want to head somewhere wild.

Re: Tarp setups for windy conditions?
When Dyneema line came out for climbing purposes in the late 1980s we had to learn a whole new set of knots to use with it because it's so slippy, well it doesn't deform in the same way as nylon ropes and line do. For the sizes of tarps folk on here are likely to use, any line with a breaking strai...

Re: Tarp setups for windy conditions?
Pure Dymeena won't work with tensioners (well, not normal tensioners but you can make some that work) It's best used for fixed length lines. I tie loops along the length to give me pegging options. Thanks stu. Even lighter than tensioners and less fiddly than knots for cold fingers  I use &qu...

Re: Tarp setups for windy conditions?
I've compromised at 1.5mm Dyneema with its zillion-pound strain, I tried the dyneema line I have and now remember why it was sat un-used in a box. It's so bloody slippery it was a nightmare to tie and tension. The stuff I've got has no give and no texture so knots don't bite easily. What kind do yo...

Re: Tarp setups for windy conditions?
Surely any shape will 'work' so long as its held securely.... although I'm still not entirely convinced re V for high winds, even as a huge fan of V. I was under a V once when the wind changed direction in the night. I woke up dreaming I was in (cold) tumble-dryer. Maybe 'cave' pegged to ground lev...

Re: Tarp setups for windy conditions?
Brilliant, plenty to go at there, will get some more lines and tensioners sorted for the pegging points.
Will try a flying v and some other setups too.
Found this guy when searching flying v. Very handy.

Tarp setups for windy conditions?
I spent a while trying to set up my new rectangular tarp in a fairly sheltered spot yesterday. I couldn't find a single pole setup that the wind wouldn't flatten when it gusted. What setup (ideally single pole) for rectangular tarp would you recommend for windy conditions? This is my tarp: https://w...

Yeah, my revelate harness is great but reassuringly heavy.
A 4 point mounted strapdeck copy count be good. Maybe a sheet of thick plastic with slots for straps. That would be more streamlined....

Anyway , the best bit about the kit is I read the small print assiduously - that's the sort of entertainment that pleases me at 61 - and it transpires that it was designed by Eric Wiiliamson of Llanbrynmair. So that immediately transported me 200 miles WNW for a few moments to BBB Central, a nice l...

It wasn't until leaving the Peak district (BTW 'Peak' has nothing to do with hills and is a corruption of the name of the tribe who lived there) that I realised just how little of it I knew and had never bothered to explore. Mid-wales on the contrary is an area I now know very well, yet, I can stil...

Re: drj0n bagworks
Twinfix is definitely a neater solution.
I think using 4 x M6 bolts you could safely add some stand-offs to help clear cables.
4 stand offs bolting on a plate which the strap deck is then mounted to.

I have some standard Giant ones presently. They work ace and lovely. If I could I would change em for carbon ones only so the cold weather wouldn't affect em (affecting my hands) as much... If you did find some nice economy carbon ones then please do share... There's a few different ones on eBay ar...
