Re: Are you analogue?

That's the quote. True. I stopped owning suspension not because of the service needs, they were generally easy to work on - I just didn't like seeing exposed stanchions covered in crap and water, just seemed like a system designed to be needy and guaranteed to deteriorate and get looser through wear...

Re: Are you analogue?

Relatively yes, but though I think not shying away from some work/effort is a good thing, working efficiently is also good. Certainly when it comes to riding I'm fairly low tech. I've never used Strava or anything like that but I love mapping and route creation maps on the laptop. I like my GPS bit ...

£265 Spa carbon MTB bikepacking fork? Found while browsing for steel road forks. Seems pretty good for a fork like that, no idea who makes it though.

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

You dont need a cache bank as you can just plug your garmin straight into a sinewave* even if the light is on, that said everyone is carrying a battery bank** anyway so its not additional weight Maybe it's my older Garmin Edge, but if there's no cache battery it powers down when the current stops. ...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

I think the power out charge cable connection is shown on a display bar, I assumed it was their OE version of the magnetic connections available on ebay. Not replacing the dropout connection. But now you mention it.. a bike with the contact dropout connectors and this system would be so good. Those ...

Re: New Bike Gear Out And Due Out...

I don't think it'll be cheap. Sinewave did look good but doesn't have the StVZO beam pattern which is the main drawback for me, I want it for long road rides at least as much as off-road. It lacks the the cache battery the SON will have also, so charging a Garmin needs an additional battery and in t...

Re: Riding the Gr5 (ish), Montreux to Nice

I've been meaning to memory-map our GR5 ride so I'll try to get as much of that as I can down and I'll post it up here if anyone's interested. A winter rainy Sunday project, I still have the tattered IGN maps we used on the shelf here.

Sorry James, just seen this. If you pm me an email address I can send gpx or if on komoot I can share Julians original plans. Your trip looked great - forgotten how much I love the Alps. Re: Baselayer recommendations?

Altura Thermocool is the best I've used. Really thin but warm, doesn't hold much moisture. Works across a quite wide temps range. Very light and packable too, I have the LS version and pretty much always take it on a trip.

Re: BB200 - a few thoughts.

An event that asks all sort of questions about ethnicity, skin colour, gender, sexuality and social media status to screen people out of it or into it (and then take some nice photos of participants as poster-persons to demonstrate the brand "inclusivity") isn't in my opinion even remotel...

You mean mansplaining?
No I mean just proactively making the offer or making some effort to consider other needs beyond the your own or the usual, that kind of thing.
You're right on someone groups relate to being influential making a difference, it helps.

Re: BB200 - a few thoughts.

Yeah it would depend on what the goal was, of course. There's plenty of reasons there are groups for certain people only, may be that they're happier without average bike blokes involved or need space for themselves.

Re: BB200 - a few thoughts.

I wasn't sure what was meant by the mention of lack of inclusion in the blog tbh, read it as 'maybe it's about the bb200?' but maybe a more general thing. Hadn't intended to take it on a tangent into general inclusivity if I misunderstood.

Back to the stickers if I have..

Ooh, stickers? I feel like a banter-pooper posting this now  but normally you need the under represented groups to explain why they don't feel included But you'd be more than welcoming to everyone that shows an interest. That's about all you can do. I'm quoting two comments as a lead in because...

I don't just mean liability from a legal standpoint but also from something of a moral one.
I don't disagree, equally I'm not sure if there's a moral obligation beyond telling people what to expect. As you do already. I mean, there's enough of a rep surrounding BB200 to put me right off it : )

Re: Wiggle, coming to a SportsDirect near you soon...

SD/Mike Ashley is always touted as a likely buyer at times like this for a retail business - perhaps it's a PR thing. If it was up for sale they'll probably look over the books just for the info value even if not interested in it.

Liability.. That's true - perhaps it's perception, or an average impression of topics and content, photos etc. idk.
