Re: Pumps

Odd, have never had that happen. I'm usually pretty careful about how I put it on / take it off though I guess.

Better than the risk of bending the valve with the sort that you just clamp straight on in my opinion.

Re: Pumps

I don't see why not. At worst it'll just mean you spend a bit more time pumping the tyre / have to get a bit closer to it because of a smaller hose.

Re: Pumps

For me it has to be something with a proper flexible hose attachment and a decent amount of volume, even if it's a touch heavier. I personally use the Lezyne Alloy Drive V2 at the moment, though thankfully (after experimenting with a bunch of "sub standard" tyres and tubeless) I haven't ne...

I've done a few of your rides from Strava... I'm not sure I'm man enough to try one you've actually tried to make hard.

Got a black "food ticket" for the BB200 last year, don't know if that counts. Doing the YD300 in a few weeks too.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

I'll have a look around, see what qualifies as a qualifier. ;)

Definitely more interested in the group start though. Not for racing as such, just because I've always loved finding people as crazy as me from time to time on these rides.

Not that I'd be crazy enough to consider doing this... oh, certainly not. But hypothetically, how might one register to do this next year?

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Ha, I've used them before, but to be honest for multiple days I figured that they'd end up being over the top on the packaging side of things. I just decant into a little squeezy bottle. Maybe 50ml? Not sure of the size exactly, I just have a bunch hanging around.

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Out of interest, what have people been using for oil on this ride?

I usually use squirt, but I've found it to be utterly useless by the second day after a bit of rain (and reapplying is ineffective when it's wet). My old go to was Muc Off Wet Lube, though it tends to goop up fairly quickly.

I stopped and loosened off 4 complete clicks on both sides of both SPD pedals and I also utilised a Anusol suppository.
These things don't seem like they go together, but yet...

Re: Decamping

One thing I omitted to mention in my routine further up was my bib shorts; I use the Aidan Harding Method of just pulling them down to knee level to aerate the necessary regions, thus negating the need to faff about pulling them on and off. I didn't really get saddle sore this year, but applied Ass...

Re: 2016 Highland Trail (group start)

Was just looking at Stuart C's heart rate data over the four days. Very interesting indeed. I love how the body starts out ready and willing to punch it up into the higher heart rate zones, and then on the following days say "Nope, I'm now setting your max heart rate to more like 70% max"....
