Re: Help oh wise ones (tubeless issue)

My taping routine involves fitting an inner tube, and leaving it inflated to at least 60psi for 48 hours. Might be worth adding this to your set up if you don't already?

You'll probably get away with the chainline bit, I suspect the greater concern will be does the chainring clear the chainstay?

Nah, Port Salut and a continental salami. No pickled onions either. Went down a treat on top of a cheese scone though.

Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

“Stupid! And beautiful!” Trep gently slapped my arm. I’d already realised that the trailhead was not in fact “about half a k as the crow flies”, and that I’d mistakenly read out a spot height from my GPS (not a distance). It turned out to be a very navigationally-challenged crow too, as it was a bit...

That's the kind of claim that needs some wind-tunnel testing data to back it up.

Re: XTR quick release hubs (or quality alternates)

Shimano MTB freehubs (HG spline) will take 8, 9, 10 (road/MTB) or 11 speed (MTB only, 11-36 upwards) cassettes. On the MTB 11 speed cassettes, the largest sprocket overhangs the back of the cassette where it butts up against the freehub.

Re: Tarp/tent fabric and water resistance?

Wild conjecture here, but is the comparison with waterproof jackets much help? I feel like the contact with the inside of the coat (which you wouldn't have with the tarp) contributes to the water coming through once the fabric is wetted out.

Re: Klickfix handlebar harness

I've done similar with a Carradice saddlebag.
Like you say, solid, easy to attach, stands off bars nicely.
Downsides, the big ugly bracket on the bike when not in use, and it maybe pushes the weight forward a little more than one might want?

Is it unethical to stop at a church for a recharge like I do for water, if I put a couple of £ in the collection pot? Seems like it'd probably be a reasonable approach: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-cost-of-electricity-consumption-in-charging-a-10-000-mAh-power-bank-by-a-2-amp-charger TL;DR - i...

Hi everyone I’m sure you have all seen the news. Although it’s looked increasingly likely over the last few days, the announcement has thrown us a curveball. Re: Bivvy a Month 2021

A late, late start, on a gloriously sunny and warm evening. The football seems to have encouraged folk to stay home and watch the TV, which left the roads nice and quiet for the first few km. Then it was up through the woods and over the moor. A couple of NP Rangers were tending to yet another burnt...

It's a lovely book - really nice guides to a variety of areas, but I'm really not sure about the 'multi-day' bit. A lot of the rides seem to be around the 100km mark. Surely that's a nice big single day, but a bit short for two days? From Carisbrooke to Freshwater Bay it's 9.5 miles (only the weste...

I'm a side-sleeper/wriggler, and feel much better with a thicker pillow. I've tried Decathlon's £4.99 offering (ok) and the Klymit Cush (not a fan at all), but have now settled on the Sea to Summit Aeros Premium pillow, size large. Benefits are that it's thicker, and it has a fabric covering, which ...
