I feel for you ... following an 'edge of grip and beyond' moment yesterday while coaching I'm also trying to nurse a pulled back. Certainly making coaching today, slightly interesting

Re: Trail trainers for flats?

Now, I can't actually recommend you any shoes without saying the name 5:10 ... I can say that the biggest issue most people encounter when going (back) to flats, is foot placement. When clipped in, the ball of your foot is pretty much over your pedal axle. If you ride anything 'rough' with your foot...

Re: Grips

How do these ESI chunky grips measure up diameter wise? They look good but the word 'chunky' puts me off slightly as I'm not blessed with the biggest hands in the world ... I notice they do some thinner ones too. EDIT: I've just discovered that they're 32mm diameter when fitted and the 'race' versio...

Front tyre and handlebars will usually have a greater effect than grips.

Re: You carry more, so you eat more ... so have to carry mor

I suppose on one hand it's really quite complicated and on the other, very simple ... riding with a heavier load requires more effort ... that increase in effort requires more calories to fuel it ... more calories require more food. I think everyones own 'make up' must also play a big part. I've rid...

Cheers Steve, they're the same ones (different company). As you say, not ultralite but certainly not heavy either.

Re: How is everyones BB200 prep going?

Fast and light ... remember the minimum kit requirement calls for - sleeping bag - bivvy bag or tarp or tent - lights - phone. Apart from that, you don't have to carry anything if you don't want to. If you're aiming to 'do as well as possible' then I think the 'I'll sleep because I can't ride anymor...

You carry more, so you eat more ... so have to carry more.

I've just re-read an article by Eddy Meecham in which he compares his present ultralite kit to his previous lightweight kit. He does this by going out with his 'old' kit for the first time in a few years ... now, his 'old' gear certainly isn't what you'd call heavy by general backpacking standards, ...

FS:New Campag Xenon 10sp rear mech.

Just wondered if this is of use to anyone. It's brand new in the bag and I'll never use it.

It's a med cage, 10sp version ... the invoice says it was £34.99 from crc, so how about £20 posted?

Re: How is everyones BB200 prep going?

Now I think about it, I think it's fair to say the track on the ascent of Carnau is actually more vague than the descent. Once you're clear of Carnau your next hurdle is this stretch which contains 6 fords in 7km ;) http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aIW60Gw_7ug/TlPbJQj263I/AAAAAAAAAiY/NKQjZ-z1I0s/s1600/rhay...
