Re: Is a flat bar crosser just a hybrid?
What are the rules for the 3 peaks? I believe they're quite picky about the bikes, so if it matches their description, then it's a crosser

Re: Waterproof Shorts... worth it?
I've trimmed a pair of GTX paclite pants into shorts and it works fairly well. More mud proof than waterproof, but keeps me comfortable during a ride. They do wear thin quite quick though on the bum, guess the sandy mud my way grinds the seat area away

OT-winter/indoor hobbies
Now that the nights are drawing in, what does everyone do to pass their time? It's all too easy to sit in front if the TV everynight! Obviously I still ride in the winter and do night riding etc, but sometimes it's good to chill in the house with a coffee. I've been thinking of airfix for a while bu...

Re: Water bottles just a bit smaller than a 750ml?
Excellent, I'll look into the podiums as I already have the normal type. Failing that, that decathlon looks a good option. In the past, I could only find sigg but didn't want metal bottles.
Thanks chaps :)

May I hijack this thread please? Can anyone help with finding a bottle that has a cover over the mouth piece? Using cages on my forks and they get covered in rubbish :(

Some exposure lights arrived this week, spoilt myself with 2 joysticks and a rear flare (which I'm highly impressed with for commuting). Even better, Rutland Cycles had them in sale and they delivered next day for free :D

Cheers Chew, I haven't used one, but did think the rating was optimistic for its pack size. In that case, they do a 15C version too, so that may be an option on the safe side :D

Sea to summit do a sleep bag liner that costs about £45 and will roughly add 8^C of warmth and it's about the size of a tin of beans. Might be worth looking into.

Re: Any Route pointers?
Best bet, as MM-Point said, use the sustrans site and find the paths from there. What I would do is, Follow the coastal sustrans path from Bangor along the coast via Llanfairfechan, through to Conwy, Llandudno etc. Keep on this past Rhyl and onto Prestatyn. Here, the path sorts of fades away from wh...

Both of those setups look vaguely exciting. If I hadn't just stuck some foam grips to my bars, I'd be very tempted to copy them :)

An impressive ride the second day, that's a lot of miles with a loaded bike. Seems you met some nice people along the way, guess they helped to motivate you on your way :)

Too much cable...
Just building up a new bike, think I've got a couple of feet of brake cable to trim off :x Why do shimano insist on giving so much, I knew I should have got the shop to do it for me! Oh well, at least the rest of the build is going well except I forgot to get a new middle ring and some chaining bolt...

Cheers yetiman, didn't think of that.
Barney, I'll let you know when I'm next out. Was going to be this weekend but I'm building up a new bike.
Loggerheads is a great idea, never thought of it despite visiting it a few times this year

Llandegla bivy spot?
Anyone know of any good spots to bivy/wild camp near to Llandegla? Thinking of a ride for the near future and using the centre for tea/breakfast, so anywhere within an hour's cycle would be good
Cheers :)

It looks tempting but why do you prefer the Salsa over the on-one?
Also, with either, can you put 29er wheels on them and how would they ride?

Re: Bivi bag condensation question.
The most breathable part of your bag is the head area, the big hole lets all the heat escape. The toe box is the least breathable, hence why it's damp, the heat can't escape anywhere. A little through the fabric but no-where near as good as the top end. It happens with waterproof boots, damp toes an...
