Re: Saving weight (and money?)
A price-performance-weight consideration I found particularly interesting was dynamo hub. Given their seemingly popularity amongst many long distance bikepackers (and tourers) thought there must be something worth considering. However, when looking at the cost (fairly high, plus a wheel build), thei...

Re: Saving weight (and money?)
Saving serious weight on the bike usually means serious money  Plus the bike has to actually cope with what you want to do. Interesting concept considering the purpose of your thread to save weight and money. Consider the money savings if everyone was still riding around on their old 26"...

Re: Saving weight (and money?)
what about saving weight on the bike itself?
once picked up someone's 29 plus thingy bike.
the weight of it was shocking.
throwback to the 80's when frames were made from pig-iron.

Re: Another Garmin (Oregon) question
I really could do with someone giving me a heads up on how to get the best out of my Oregon.. Still in the not really “getting it”stage. i have a Garmin Montana 610 and full UK 1:25k and 1:50k OS maps similar beast, just slightly bigger. one of the best finds for me was the map orientation. ...

I might have actually thought of a useful idea.
Must be a first.
The map isn’t public, only viewable via the link.
If adding oneself just add a pin close’ish

Re: An idea, the boners floor surfing map
I will look at sorting a map
People can say pin the nearest post office, petrol station, supermarket etc rather than their house
To be fair, I’d much rather visit one of you guys than a complete stranger ....if that makes any sense.

An idea, the boners floor surfing map
A comment on the warm showers thread got me thinking. How about a boners google map showing the location of people who would help a fellow boner? I’d be happy to help a fellow boner who was passing Hull. Appreciate a “warm shower” would be too much of a luxury for the average boner bikerpacker Thoug...

Any bear-boners on Warmshowers?
Hi,
Was looking earlier for warmshowers people on my Le Jog route, and came across Mark apparently in Arran (think might be a typo).
Got me wondering, are there any other Boners on Warmshowers?

Re: Tuscany Trail 2018
Not doing again Do something else. Felt the entry fee was very high for so little; I know it’s self supported. Either charge less entry or at least provide a free meal at the end. 2017 was an experience. Those hills, that heat, wrong bike, too much stuff. Though, was my first bikepacking event, so a...

Re: '18 YD300
I did YD300 last year. I was the last finisher at 22:50 on Sunday night ....the extra 10km loop didn’t help as I got the course wrong. Sections are fairly technical. Expect to ride in the dark. The fast boys were finishing mid day on the Sunday. How about “this is not a tour”? That event has various...

Finish Le Jog will be a good start.
Would like to go sub-19 at Parkrun.
......and finish the Litespeed gravel bike; ordered the rear mech today, so getting close.

Almost as daft as the ride across Britain fee.
Suppose they do at least move your stuff, feed, and provide a tent. .....just what I’ll be doing for myself when I ride Le Jog.

So drafting or riding in a group is forbidden, yet one can ride in a pair?
Wonder if that pair will draft??
When did bikepacking become “trendy”?

Have a neoair xtherm
Packs small, light, warm.
Don’t find it too noisy, though I do sleep with ear plugs in.
Not cheap.
