The last two blokes (from the riders that left Banf on 12th June) are 20 miles from the finish.

Re: Pump Recomendations
The best thing to with Lezyne pumps is not to buy them in the first place. I used to Loctite the valve cores into tubes when I had one, not something I want to do with tubeless valves. I use an Innovations Road Air (the long version) if it's going in a bag, Topeak Mini Morph if it's for a jersey poc...

Re: Man hit by lightning pen y fan
I've seen a few articles that say one of the blokes was carrying a selfie stick, which suggests he was trying to take a picture of himself in a thunder storm. I must remember not to stick a metal aerial up when there's lightning about.

Garmin 800 is really annoying me
Using my 800 today got to the point where I wanted to stamp on it. I was going outside my usual ride area so plotted a route on bikehike, saved it to m PC, loaded it to the 800 and set off. Every time I get to a road the bastard thing zooms in and wants to take me down it. Ride past bridleways I sho...

Re: Words fail me.....
Hipster? In 1990, seems so recent but it's 25 years ago, I arrived back from a stint in Australia. Totally skint, I got on my bike and went dispatch riding (in London). London is fairly flat and having raced track, it soon became obvious what was required was a fixed wheel. I wasn't the first, that ...

The bloke at the back is 1500 miles behind. Bear in mind he's done 1200 miles in two weeks, not a shabby effort.

Re: Tour Divide 2015 for armchair viewers
On my evening rides I've been pondering what a pro road racer would make of this. Alex Dowsett frequents a cafe I use, he's usually in there with a few Sky riders and Cav. If I see them I'll ask.s8tannorm wrote:What was it someone once said ... "the toughest cycle race in the world, isn't in France"

Re: Tour Divide 2015 for armchair viewers
The first Tour Divide I've really paid attention to and I've been giving this more attention than I give the Tour de France, which is a lot. I can't get my head around the daily mileage these people are putting in. Can I give a mention to Lael Wilcox, rode 2000 miles from Alaska to the start and is ...

Re: Oval chainrings any good?
NewRetroTom I don't think splitting the ellipse into segments works. When you look at an oval ring rotating you naturally think the chain will get tighter then looser, my maths isn't anywhere near good enough to explain why the chain length stays constant but it does. As I said, I think it's because...

Re: Oval chainrings any good?
I'm surprised the chain dropped on the single speed setup. Even though the chainring is oval, the number of teeth in contact with the chain remains constant throughout the revolution of the ring. The only way the chain could go slack then tight is if the chain length altered, and it can't. I should ...

Re: Oval chainrings any good?
I've used Rotor rings for years, so yes, I think they're worth the money. Make sure the BCD on your chainset is compatible though.

Re: Crankset Epic!
Biopace worked a bit if you rotated the rings clockwise. You'd still knacker your knees, it just took a bit longer.
Q Rings are great, I've got them on my road, CX and mountain bike.

Re: cyclocross wheelsets?
I'm using Mavic CPX 33 rims on Hope hubs. Road rims are fine for cross tyres, If you intend using very wide tyres might be worth looking at a wider rim?
