Lidl are doing their rechargeables for that price too.

Haberdashery or material shop would be my first port of call, especially one of the ones you find in industrial units. A quick google search shows haberdashery places surrounding the peak district so you should hopefully get lucky.

Re: Do you own an unsuitable bike?
I'm well up for a comedy bike or minimum spend event. I bought a 70s Dawes Galaxy for 20 quid last month and have a modern BMX with obligatory pivotal (6"if you're lucky) post. It does have 2.4 tyres so I'm not sure if that makes it a 20" single speed steel fat bike? It's a bastard to ride...

i dont think many of us want the freedoms of the US and the subsequent death rate that go with it. I barely trust my fellow citizens with cars never mind firearms. I wouldn't ever go that far, I just feel that (at least up here where everything is licensed) small game should be fair game. By that I...

Re: 'Prepping' What's that about?
I'm a prepper when I go on holidays. All the self-/unsupporting stuff, food in pouches, redundancy etc. makes me feel a bit like those folks I think of being strange. Sometimes I even bring an ice axe along to fend of zombies. Obviously. means, for me, acquiring a large amount of spirits and drinki...

One thing to note, according to Yokozuna, cracking them open to bleed will actually void the warranty. Ahm oot. Apart from that, there is some amount of nonsense being spouted in the opening paragraphs that is hard to see by: That said, there are a few frustrating drawbacks that accompany full hydr...

With a blue Hope seat clamp to even out my Pitch (blue V4's needed a bit of balance).
And a 1/4 to 1/8 BSPP reducer for my fire extinguisher tubeless inflator.

For bearbonesnorm, coming next Thursday, to match your gasless MIG set: https://www.lidl.co.uk/en/p/diy/parkside-plasma-cutter/p29579 On compressors I stumbled upon this, don't know anything but cheaper than Machine mart by a country mile. https://www.sgs-engineering.com/air-compressors/semi-pro-diy

All that tells me is that if I don't have a few hundred quid to spend on a tent then I may as well not bother. It's talking about the best and I'm sure they are good but it's written for someone who knows nothing ie. the novice. Amazing that a £70 Phoxx isnt far off some of those in weight terms. Do...

Re: What axle do I need ?
Ah okay, that's a Marzocchi hub so converting is a fat nope . Forks look like Z3 QR20's assuming those are black caps that do nothing on top. Good news is an enthusiast/idiot (delete as applicable) would pay a decent amount for the hub especially if its the one with rotor mounts and the forks probab...

Re: What axle do I need ?
Ozboz - depending on the exact hub model there may be an adaptor https://www.bike-components.de/en/SUNringle/Black-Flag-Expert-Charger-Expert-ADD-Expert-Front-Conversion-Kit-p49385/ Unfortunately your photo didn't come through but QR20 is 20 x 110mm as said. You can use any Marzocchi axle in there, ...

Re: What axle do I need ?
There is a link above you to a 20x 110 non boost axle so 20 mm x 110mmm may or may not be boost Except 20mm boost is a 2 year old standard the hub ozboz has is over 4 years old. It is certainly not boost and I would stake the cost of the wheelbuild on that. i have some 20mm forks that are 100mm axl...

Re: QR v Thru Axles
Was a Hope QR. Without wanting to sound flippant that could well be your problem right there, for the loosening issue at least. External cams are terrible in comparison to even the cheap Shimano skewers and Hope skewers have never had a great rep. Mine only secures once the cam is past the 180degre...

Re: What axle do I need ?
To expand on what sean_iow said: The axle diameter is nothing to do with boost or otherwise, it's the length that matters. 20mm is a 110mm axle, not boost. 15mm is a 100mm axle. 15mm boost is a 110mm axle. So if you reduce a 110mm 20mm diameter axle down to 15mm diameter you are left with a 15mm boo...

Re: What axle do I need ?
20mm to 15mm would give you boost spacing though as 20mm is designed around a 110mm axle.
Knowing what hub it is is more useful as we can say whether it can be converted properly.

Hmm... As I said, I'm not the hardest on my kit (I'm 10.5 stone soaking wet) but I wouldn't say my experience is unique. I used to race the SDA's on a hardtail with XT hubs all round (the Stratos MX6 up front dumped once its oil and the frame it was attached to buckled before the wheel even noticed)...

And bent axles. Coming back from my last trip I had to saw the axle apart to be able to pull it through my SON hub. I really should have invested in a new TA SON hub, this would've allowed me to design a laterally stiffer fork. This was the only weak spot of my expedition bike. Oversized fork, yet ...

I have an entire hub sitting doing nothing, I got it as part of a deal and set it aside for a future build but would prefer to use something more future proof.
If nobody else has the freehub I'd sell you the whole thing.

Seeing this about welder I have a question. How difficult is it to learn to weld? I sometimes have a need to weld, generally a small job, and feel it might be worthwhile to be able. Otherwise I have to pay someone or find another way. Mig is generally considered to be the easiest and in truth the h...
