Insulation tape here. I'm not subjecting my beloved Pegasus to all that welsh mud and grit without a bit of tape keep it looking nice.

Re: Carousel Designs Works

Out of interest DNF, what are your selection criteria for wanting a bag like the CDW or polish version, rather than a harness of a type like Revelate or Wildcat?

Nice blog. Liked the boris post so much that I even +1'd it.

Curious why didn't you opt for your fantasticmrmatt moniker though?

Re: The shortcomings of tarps?

The more you add to a tarp the closer it becomes to being a tent. The limitations of tarps are just something for us to consider in the context of the intended use or anticipated conditions. As Thom says, you need several and pick according to your trip. The occasions where I've got wet under a tarp...

Re: Lake District

All my bivvy credits will be spent by then unfortunately. Years since I rode up there, but had a very enjoyable tour back in the mid-90's.

Weather could be interesting. If you think Wales is wet, you'll love the Lakes in November ;)

Snow notwithstanding, it'd be nice to be able to ride right up to the bivvy spot, rather than the portege of last year.

Phone broken and in for repair, main camera has photos of our Lass' practice wedding hair-do on the memory card so I'm banned from looking at it until she has had 5 to download them

I regularly find golf balls in the middle of forests. Never a golf course to be seen anywhere nearby of course.

Bowlines are easier to undo after they've been tightened or subjected to a high tension

Re: Line-Loks v Figure 9's for guylines?

Figure 9's look like they handle a greater range of cord diameters, but other than that they look over complicated for what they acheive. I'd rate the mini line lok's as the best solution for finer cord (<3mm diameter). I can confirm mini line lok's are not entirely reliable with 1.25mm dynemma but ...

mKettles hold about 500ml of water, not 900ml.

Interesting idea though, and adds considerably to the versatility of the kettle.

Tour of Britain

Nothing whatsoever to do with bikepacking, but the Tour of Britain passed through Brecon yesterday lunchtime. After about 20 mins of waiting around and watching countless police motorbike whiz past, we were treated to about 20 seconds of action within which time I manage to shoot these pictures: htt...
