Re: ESI 6.75” grips

Just poke the wd40 straw down and squirt It says not to use lubricant otherwise I would’ve done this. Wasn’t sure how I could remove the WD after to stop them Slipping once refitted. I fitted my esi grips with GT85 last time I had them off as the hand sanitiser I normally use was worth more than go...

Re: Retro 1x bodgery

Have a wolf tooth ring on my cx and it was even more than the Middleburn!

Also run an 11-40 sunrace on that and it works fine just made this 11-42 out of bits

I do have an 11-46 9 speed cassette but the mech did not have the range to make it work

Retro 1x bodgery

Had a bit of a gearing revamp on the Inbred mullet Because - my front rings (old 5 bolt compact) where pretty worn the front mech has always been a mud magnet I just like the simplicity of 1x on my other bike and I was probably a bit bored and like to tinker Middleburn direct mount 32 NW (they call ...

Re: This should work, right?

Middleburn (BETD) do a direct mount 32t narrow wide which looks nice and neat, just put one on my Inbred

Sunrace expander, I had to dremel a little inside to get it to sit on my hanger

Re: If we close up for a bit...

Actually that seems to be from Scottish Cycling not the Government so not the law and possibly why it's badly worded This is from Scottish Government "Sport, culture and leisure activities: In this phase we are planning to allow unrestricted outdoors exercise adhering to distancing measures and...

Re: GBDURO goes from self-supported to self-sufficient

I'll just point out that the position is different in Scotland where the Government is taking a slightly slower approach. A number of cyclists travelling the length of the UK and turning up in some of the local communities will attract the wrong sort of attention. Exactly, I guess we'd need to be i...

Re: If we close up for a bit...

I don’t see anything in the Scottish guidance from 28th requiring a return home at night? So camping ok so long as it’s fairly local and part of your exercise?

Re: Hebridean Way

There are ponies up the wee road past Loch Druidibeag on South Uist too. If you are doing the whole archipelago then one transport option is to hire a bike taxi service from Ullapool to Oban (or Ullapool to Inverness to catch a train). This was part of my job for a while... Is that the road to the ...

Re: Hebridean Way

Would like to go over and do this as been to Uists and Eriskay a few times. Will have a look at that Heb shuttle suggestion :) I would say don’t just ride straight off Eriskay. It’s a cool little island. Worth a climb up Beinn Sciathan (Scrien) to find the ponies. They are down around the village in...

I have a Six Moons Wild Oasis and use a flat tyvek floor (which incidentally is due a replacement!). But then it is a pretty much a tent. Same here. I’ve only actually used a bivi bag under it once in an incredible thunderstorm on Rum where I was sure the wind and hail would tear it to pieces. 812D...

Re: Trad Carradice saddle bags (user experience and MYOG related)

Thanks Al, I have some of those here, they're OK but do place the bag closer to the seatpost and the loops can end up at odd angles. Just seems daft that more saddles don't have loops, a nicer solution. There's a moulded nylon base to most of them, why not just add a loop in there? Ah well. I tried...

Currently on an 8 year hiatus though was very tempted to get something this year though this is probably out now . Did fancy a classic project but prices are just nuts :( Never owned a bike newer than 1991 and that was a zephyr so quite retro when it came out and I didn’t buy it till 2010. Best bike...
