I was just flicking through this thread, and realised that that is my vet! (and fellow dark peak fell runner) excellent atmospheric shot.

Shifter is proving tricky to find. Cranks I've got are FSA mega-exo, which also work with a Shimano BB. Not got any rings on them though - do you need those?

Re: Stupid ideas you can't shake.
Certainly looks interesting Greg, and goes within about 2km of my house so could run from the door... The problem/excellent thing about this idea is that if I do end up running it, then I'm pretty much out of excuses for not running the spine challenger which I got a place for in 2021 but was too sk...

Re: Stupid ideas you can't shake.
Not bike related, but running. I was planning on doing a solo bob Graham next weekend but obviously Corona virus has put such things on hold. I keep seeing signs for the Peak District boundary wall when I'm out with the kids, so though I'd look at it yesterday. Turns out it's a 190mile monster, and ...

Re: Wtd - 9 spd shifter, crankset, 26" tyre and brakeset.
I'm in lodge moor, S10. Can't find the shifter at the moment, but there are a couple of large boxes of bits I've not hunted in yet! Most of the tyre mountain seems to be smaller than that, or DH tyres. I do have a 2.35 kenda blue groove which is a nice front tyre though. I'll find some cranks and lo...

I'm in Sheffield too, and have various 26" tyres, and I'm pretty sure I have cranks and shifter too. Can't remember if I sold the 9 speed shifter a while back. What sort of tyre width do you need?

Re: And I thought women were ba(g)d...
I'm not too bad with bike bags, but have a pretty serious running bag problem... 4 different sizes of bum bag, from just a phone, key and gel up to all day on the hills. 3 sizes of backpack - 6 litre "vest" type, 10 litre backpack and 20 litre for overnight trips. Chest pack to attach to t...

I've skimmed the 1.8mm off the back of a few cassettes for friends before now. If you have a cassette you want doing then once I'm back in school (I'm an engineering teacher, not a student!) then I can probably sort it for you.

My wife is about that size, and rides an XS giant/Liv 27.5" wheel hardtail with a fair bit of seatpost showing. They go down to a XXS in one or 2 models. Only real issue she's found is that there's not enough room for a bottle inside the frame!

Just looked at those Stu, and they're 650a which I think is a different outside diameter for the tyre bead?

I sent a load of frames with dpd. Arranged through parcel2go as it was loads cheaper than going direct.

Re: I Want a 20" OnOne Fatty Or....
I'm contemplating getting rid of my on-one fatty trail. 20" frame, rigid on-one forks, stock wheels, a few tyres and SRAM X5 cranks. There's most of the rest there too, but those are all the fat specific bits.
Is that any use?

Don't worry if it's already gone though, I wanted to use it with strava and it seems that the support has gone from their interface

Re: Still worthy of the puking gnome???
Still looks like he hucked to flat with a mid 90s XC bike. I remember doing that to a set of triple butted project 2 forks, riding my old cinder cone off a loading dock... Having said that, the more I see Lauf forks on gravel bikes, the more I want a set and that photo does nothing to stop this want.

Re: Bar end shifter cables
I've run them with the inners all the way up the bar to by the stem, and also coming out of the tape in the drops a bit below the lever clamp. The first way looks cleaner, and is less likely to catch on fingers but the second gives smoother routing and shifting (and is a bit lighter if that bothers ...

Very long shot, but does anyone have any crank shorteners going spare? 9/16" pedals rather than skinny one-piece crank ones..
Thanks!
Thanks!

Me collecting the first one, but still vaguely exciting... A mission duet MTB tandem - means I can get my son out on a bike again as he's outgrown the trailer bike I bought from here years ago. He's got a brain tumor, and a few years of chemo/operations have left him a tad unsure on his feet so also...

Lycra for me most of the time, for a fairly thin but very comfy pad I wear dhb team bib shorts. I'll sometimes wear baggies over them, or baggies on their own. I've a fairly slim 33” waist, and chunky tights, and find ion shorts are the best fit I've had.

Re: Metal rod bending - racks
Thanks Paul. For now I'm just trying something out, bending rod with a vice. Any tips for a more accurate way? Wondered if some rounded-end pliers would do it. If you're just after a single bend, then I'd go for holding it in a vice and using mole grips or similar to bend it. Probably teaching a gr...

Re: Metal rod bending - racks
I've a fair bit of experience playing with and bending rods, hot and cold, while helping kids make projects. I'm a secondary school engineering teacher, so probably no use for batch production but happy to make a 1-off or give advice.
What sort of batch size? I can ask around...
